Nice! What are these tools made of?

Considering they are 1/4 of the price of these I assume it's aluminum or stainless steel.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=66683.0

The price is for a set of two right?

Most international buyers can accept that $8 tools are going to be sent untracked =P

Priority mail is a huge expense

Fine by me and quicker too as customs seem to ignore untracked!

I just got a set of these a few days ago as well. They work great. I've been using a pair of ESD fine point tweezers for years and I can remove tops much quicker with the tweezers.... however the way I maneuver them makes it very easy to loose a spring when I get the top off. With these tools I have a lot more control. I can just carefully pull the top off.

Saw these when poking around the site after I grabbed my HKPs and snatched up a set right away, and they arrived this afternoon. They are much higher quality than the picture would appear. The metal is smooth and the edges do not catch anything. Worked like a charm for opening up both Gaterons and Cherry switches. Highly recommended  :thumb:

Got my two sets of  tools and just opened  90 switches. If I had one very nit picky  complaint it's that the finish is too smooth. I've fumbled a few times with the tools sliding from my fingers.

Otherwise they're doing the job just fine.

One thing - the chain that comes with this tool is too small/short to put both tools on and still be able to use on a cherry switch. If it's still possible to change that, a slightly larger chain would be great. Those things are kind of a pain to remove all the time, and these tools are small enough to easily lose in a drawer.

Agreed.

The chain is a bit short and it would be nice to have something that can be kept on there to keep the pair together and allow them to be used without restriction.

Didn't even notice the chain issue until you pointed it out

First impression.  These work really good  :thumb:
These have a little longer "prongs" then the Beasts tools.

I agree that they are a little too smooth, and the chain is too short, but they work good for me.

Please let me know, I'm going off of what Hojin said when I asked him:

4) Do the upper two layers function as plates? Do they allow for switch top removal/modding without desoldering?
–> Yes right.

So... the result of our clarification with Hojin: http://winkeyless.kr/forums/topic/possibility-to-open-a-switch-without-desoldering/

Quote
Here is CONCLUSION!!
NO It’s impossible.

I used a sharp tool like a chisel to open switch’s top.
It made scratches on the switch and case.
Sometimes broke the connectiong point and made it loose.
(You have to make small cutout to the case with chisel.)

Sorry for my pool english to depict the situation.

Anyway… Please don’t do that without desoldering.

So... anyone brave enough to try it with this switch tool?  :p

The plate does not have cutouts for it, so no. It will not work.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Yeah paid for these beggars and again, the shipping cost is way above the items I had paid for.

Nice living in the MOST isolated Sh1t-Dump in the known universe.  Speaking of which, when we finally set up colonies on Mars, I bet it'll cost the same amount to ship any keyboard equipment there as it will to Australia, go figure.
