IBM 3-button USB optical mouse:

Alps Trackstick and trackpad, with the dotted soft rim cap.

(no, the keyboard isn't that shiny...I just type a lot with oily hands after I eat).

I have too many mice but currently I'm using Steelseries Kinzu with Puretrak Perfect Glide and I can't use any other mouse...I'm addicted.

I have a Razer Salmosa too and I enjoy this 2 the most of the mice I have.

I want to have rhe Razer Salmosa Asian Edition or de Korean Edition one. But It seems that it's only available in USA and Asia. At least some months agoo it was available in the USA in the main page from Razer at 29$. BTW I found it's not available anymore : http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.176851400

Track Point L40 is my main mouse.  I even use it for playing Black Ops, and it works quite well.

I'm still quite enamoured with my Gigabyte GM-8000X.  I like to abuse my mice and use their failure as a pretense to purchase upgrades.  Alas, I still have a pair of Microsoft Optical Explorers (1.0, I suppose, circa 2002) which stubbornly refuse to die.  Ugly chunky pieces o' crap.  I'm surprised they aren't beige.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0!

The first mouse I ever bought was a MS Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1a. I used it for years until i 'upgraded' to a Logitech MX518. Never liked it as much but had to justify buying it. :D I went back to my WMO and used it until it broke 9 years in to it's life. The 3.0 was just meant to tide me over for a little while but I'm now in love.

L-TracX (swapped with left and right hands, still adjusting to it)

Evoluent VM4 (used as my right hand mouse for long work sessions which require accuracy)

Intellimouse Optical (cheap left hand general computing mouse, only used because i have it lying around and it is ambidextrous)

Logitech LS1 laser mouse (cheap but pretty decent) for my workstation and a magic trackpad for my Macbook. I like the trackpad; if I can figure out how to get it to work on Debian I might get one for my workstation too.

I also have a Kensington Expert Mouse 4, but I can't get used to it.

Did you have to make any cuts on those feet?  They look like a perfect fit.  I bought some replacements from puretrak for my g500 not too long ago and so far none of them fit well and I can't cut them to fit properly because I suck :/

I have used an MX1100 for about 18 months now, and the scroll is now jittering when I left click.  When I'm playing BC2, it is sometimes enough to switch my weapon while firing.  It was intermittent until this past weekend, and is now too frequent to use.  I just ordered a g500, and from everything that I have heard about it, it seems like I will be much happier. Oh, I found it on amzn for only 50 bucks, which made me quite happy.

And another IBM ball mouse, looks like the ones with the red scroll wheel, excepting lacking it.
And I guess my thinkpad's trackpoint if it were still working.

Ironically I'm using it right now. It's only 1992, not that old. Only as old as me :)
Unless you think I'm ancient...

It's actually not yellowed at all; IBM used good plastic like in the Model M. So it stays its normal creamy beige colour.
Plus it's brand new (I was the first to open it), so...

Well if the L40 trackball doesn't sate your fancy, the ScrollPoint Pro is certainly a more modern device. I love that thing... I need to get more as it's one of my most favourite mice to use. But the genius china's Lenovo discontinued them because they would rather make cheap crap.

Has anyone here hacked a 3" arcade trackball into a PC yet? New ones can be a bit costly, but I see that ancient Atari (Missile Command, Centipede, etc) trackball parts are auctioned all the time, often for ~$30, even less if somehow broken. Wiring up a little mcu and PS/2 interface to one of these would be easy enough ... in fact, many of the new trackball models come with integrated PS/2 or USB anyhow, it's just a matter of building some sort of chassis.

Is it worth the effort? Do trackballs generally suck? I expect they are (or can be) high precision, at least some of the "heavy" models. Of course bigger is better, nobody wants small balls. I also expect they'd require frequent takeapart/cleaning unless you only handle them with rubber gloves. The last time I used a trackball was about the same year eIBM's L40 was made.

Nobody here uses tablets, touchscreens, lightpens, styli, other pointing interfaces?

I ordered a little WACOM tablet. What the hell, eh? If I like it I'll consider upgrading to a bigger & better model. At least I'll finally be able to digitize my written signature properly.

I never liked the G500.  It's alright, I suppose.  But it looks and feels oversized and my GM-8000X is far superior in every way (including cost).

my hands are oversized, so i need a big mouse or my hands start to cramp up.  :P  from the base of my hand to the tip of my middle finger is a little over 21cm and my middle finger itself is a little over 9cm or so.

Strange — I don't like anything but laser because of my incredible hand/eye coordination in fps games ;)

how does the imperator feel compared to the G500?  I have the G500 but i have never owned or felt the razer mouse and it looks like i might like it!  Although i really like this G500, it is very nice!  :)

I had a logitech MX500 before the imperator and i have to say it's completely different. You can customize the mouse buttons and laser settings and switch through the settings with the mouse buttons on top. For the usual applications i use 3000 dpi settings and for games i crank it up to 5600 (with max polling rate). Some will say that's too much, too sensitive but i feel it's much more convenient to have it maxed out on the mouse and to lower the mouse sensivity in the game, you get a very precise control that way. It's not a cheap mouse but it's worth every cent to me ^.^
