If someone was going to go for more matching keys, the European textless style would probably be best. I have the textless backspace and tab keys on my board. Adding textless / symbol only shifts, enter and capslock would definitely interest me.

I was just thinking about that ordering some Round 4 keycaps. There are textless all of them in the Round 4 (arrowup, arrowdown, handbag, backspace) but not enter and tab.

Caps Lock doesn't fit my G80-3000! WHY CENTER POST?! These are supposed to be replica cherry doubleshot right? Then why isn't the post on the left? Is anyone else in the same boat, or am I the only one? WHY??!!!

They are for modern boards with cherry mx like filco, das, leopold, etc. the 3000 should work with most of the original cherry corp ds caps, except bottom row on boards without winkeys etc.

I use caps lock for games, and my finger falls down the step. This causes a split second delay in pressing it, which is annoying!

I don't remember it being said anywhere that it was center post. It is a "replica" of the cherry DS, which is left posted, so it should also.

Finally got around to take a couple pictures of the moogle kits.  Just took picture of the white/beige set.

Moogle kit with Cherry Dye Sub keycaps on Filco Gen1 with MX Blue.

A comparison shot of 3 right shift keycap.  From the top: Cherry dye sub, SP Moogle kit from November 2011, Cherry double shot.

I would have included the white/beige right shift key from group buy 3 moogle kit, but I don't have a set :-(.

Edit: macro closeup shots of the 3 keys.  Sorry that I didn't scale them to the same size.

The Ed:  I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding.  I'm not sure where you jumped on board to the group buy, but on the first of my two threads I thought I was very clear all of these keys were intended for modern key layouts (Hence the 1.25 keys as well).   If they were all the Cherry Capslock replicas, all of us with Filcos, etc would have to mod the stems :/

Litster: Those pictures are so helpful -  thanks!  I think I finally see the optical illusion effect between the beige and black keys.  In my defense, doubleshot widths are incredibly variable (Cherry being slightly moreso than SP from what I've observed).

I think this Moogle Kit right shift looks perfect.  You can't tell the difference unless you look at the macro pictures.  With my naked eyes they are perfect.  Thanks again!

He is right, the results are as close as one can achieve when outsourcing the production. Your SVG's were good enough to make SP create a 98% identical keycap to an old, vintage style.

"modern key layouts" means the width and shapes of keys, not specifically the stem layout. I have read every single post in both threads, and I don't remember ever reading that this was center stemmed. It may have been in there somewhere and I just don't remember. I think this should set a precedent that post layout should be specified in the opening post. And another thing, the 2 windows and menu key that fit my board are angled for the wrong row (or at least wrong). They are taller in height and the bottom of the keys is even taller above the rest than the front is. I'm talkin' 3-4mm at least! They are so high that I can see the switches underneath with my eyes at table level... Keycaps are supposed to "cap" keys right? Is a real cherry keyboard's keys really that different from today's keys? And yes, I have pressed them on as far as they go. When the cap bottoms out it can't go on any farther.

@The_Ed:

A Moogle Kit is designed to replace the keys on a vintage set that do not fit on the newer/different keyboards. One of the most notable problems is the off-center stems on the Caps Lock which, in order for a moogle kit to be worthwhile, has to be center-stemmed. I would make the guess that 75% or more of the orders in this group-buy would not have existed if the kit was 100% the same as an old Cherry keycap set. It was more about the legends and color than anything else.

OK, but what about the height/angle? Anyone who bought 99-hk's 104 doubleshot set (like me) will have this problem right? And if people got their cherry DS from a donor board they should also run into it right? Come on, I can't be the only one?!

Are you putting these on a Blackwidow because, as Litster's pictures will show, they fit completely normally on a Filco.

As far as I can see the texture on that Cherry dye sub PBT is as smooth as baby's bottom. Is it really that good? It seems it is kinda slippery.
I wonder how does it feel compared to the more texturated Topre.
The SP key texture and key profile is very similar to Topre. I think SP PBTs should feel very close to Topre keys.

Could anyone confirm this?

That original cherry keys have a different key profile, it is especially noticeable on the bottom row. You should stick with the original windows and menu keys, or replace the whole bottom row including the spacebar. Also the capslock won't fit.

Are you mixing front row keys, using Ctrl and Alt from the Cherry set and the Windows key and app menu key from the Moogle kit?  If so, just use all front row keys from the Moogle kit.

EDIT: what RiGS says!

Probably.  the kit from 99HK came from Cherry 104 key keyboards.  Everything works except the capslock.  I tihnk pretty much every old-timer knows what a moogle kit is.  It could be confusing to noobs, especially if your cherry double shot set is different from most other Cherry double shots.

If you do need an older, offset and stepped capslock let me know; I can either give it to you for free at the cost of shipping or if you order some doubleshots in my buy I can throw it in that package in about a month and a half.

He has an off-site capslock from the 99hk kit.  He wants an off set capslock that is not stepped.

The orignal non-stepped capslock has centered stem. I think he wanted one with off-center stem. I hate to disappoint him, but there is no such key.
You should stick with the original stepped DS key, or mod the other one.

99-hk's caps lock fits, all 104 do. I wanted an UNSTEPPED caps lock. And since the 2 windows keys and menu key aren't doubleshot I wanted those too. And no, I do not type at table level. I can see more of the switches at normal height, but to still see the switches from table level says somethin'.

edit: The original non-stepped caps has centered stem, but the original stepped caps has non-centered stem?

On my set, the moogle kit right shift key sits higher than my cherry doubleshots on that row.  Is anyone else seeing this?

It sits about 2 mm higher than the rest of the row.  I verified this on 2 leopolds and a ducky 1087...

The doner board was a G81-1822HQ....  Perhaps it has different profile cherry keys than other cherry boards?  Because someone else would have definitely noticed this.

So I should try to grind down the shafts on the 2 windows, and menu keys? But that still wouldn't fix the angle problem, only the height. And the caps lock would have to have it's shaft completely removed, and a new one glued/epoxied in... which aint gonna happen, i'm too lazy.

So I should try to grind down the shafts on the 2 windows, and menu keys? But that still wouldn't fix the angle problem, only the height. And the caps lock would have to have it's shaft completely removed, and a new one glued/epoxied in... which aint gonna happen, i'm too lazy.

The angle problem is inherent to all SP keys.  I think the only way around it is to use the moogle kit for your entire bottom row.  As for modding your Caps Lock, TheProfosist can probably do it for you for a reasonable fee.

I do sympathize with your situation, but I feel like you totally misunderstood the purpose of this kit.  You could definitely recoup your costs by selling it, as there are a bunch of new 2-shot owners from this buy.  I know Oqsy in particular is looking for a moogle kit.  You might try posting in that thread directly.

On my set, the moogle kit right shift key sits higher than my cherry doubleshots on that row.  Is anyone else seeing this?

Just press it down with more force.

But not too much!

Not that you break anything!

I can confirm mine was a simple stem length difference and grinding it down worked just fine.

that's weird, my menu key doesn't have the top line highlighted like yours

and it might just be the angle but, winkey looks a lot larger than yours too.

by the looks of it.. what i have if what everybody else has... yours came out a little different.
