Hello guys, really excited to push this into group buy. To cut things short, let's go into the details.

Casing will be split into 4 sections : "Top layer", "Body", "Bottom Layer", "Feet Block".

All colours are available for all of the sections, however for the first run, I hope we can have at least15 units of a single type of colour and finish ( Agreeable to make some exceptions if it is close)
A top layer, bottom layer and feets are 1 units for each type, the body itself is 5 units. I'll do the math, don't worry.

The reason for this is because the manufacturer only has the machine and not the acrylic sheets, the acrylic sheets has to be bought from a separate source and the selection is making me really spoilt for choices.
Here are the available colours.

Descriptions

The whole idea of allowing this wide array of colours is really for you to pick, mix and match your favourite colour combinations together. I can't have too many different colour top layer to show you until we complete at least 1-2 batches.

-Top layer + Body + Bottom layer + Rubber stands = Standard Filco/QFR Casing height without rubber feet stands ( Teensy Exposed )
- Top layer + Body + Bottom layer + Feet Block + Rubber stands = Standard Filco/QFR Casing height with feet stands ( Teensy Enclosed )

FAQ

Pictures
RED (PL 102)- 92 keys with LED holes.

How does it mount ?
The bottom layer of the body and the upper layer of the body are of different sizes. As the PCB is smaller than the plate, the bottom layer's hole is made smaller so that the PCB goes through and the plate does not. The upper layer is made in accordance to the plate dimensions so it has a snug fit with the top layer.

A picture to show how the plate sits on the 2nd layer of acrylic, do note that these are 6mm layers, the final product consist of everything in 3mm because most of the colour options are only available in 3mm thick acrylic sheets.
Another major bonus of this design is that the solders points and trimmed stems does not touch the bottom layer at all.

So just to make sure I'm reading this right if we wanted an all clear case it would be something like this

Top & Bottom layer Combo- Clear: $ 25 + Body- Clear: $40 + Feets- Clear: $17 = $82 plus shipping?

And then can just the top layer be ordered in different layouts for swapping in and out?

Curious about this too. I think I posted in the IC thread, a request for pics without the guts, just the case. There are no standoffs to hold the PCB/plate up, and the plate is not mounted to the case, so how are these being held up?

I would also like to get a better understanding of the insides of the case. Also which pieces exactly do I need to buy to fit my filco tkl? And about what time would they be shipped, I move around addresses (Uni, home, work) and I would like to know where to order it to.

Thanks

Interested to see how this would work with 3mm thick sheets as mentioned above. If the above pictures are of 6mm thick acrylic, then 3mm seems like it would be much too thin even with the bottom/body/top layer all assembled. Or maybe I am misunderstanding.

Basically it is just replacing a single 6mm with 2 x 3mm, technically the same thickness.

Op I remember when you opened tread in IC section some people asked more less about the pricing of the cases, you said it will be around $60-$80 per case. Not to bash your thread you can charge whatever you want, but just looking roughly on the estimate when combining all 3 layers ( top, body -  that's middle I guess , bottom) and see the overall pricing, did the place where they cut the acrylic sheets charged you almost double then their previous quote?

Prices:

Top & Bottom layer Combo
- Coloured: $ 35

Body
- Coloured: $60

Feets
- Coloured: $22

Shipping: $20

Total: $137

The quote for a 60 usd case was given to me for clear, as I am trying to move towards all colours available for all sectors, the main bulk cost come from the charge for cutting out 5 pieces of 3mm for the body portion.

If you were to select clear, I believe the case is really about $60-80 usd without the feets.

Nevertheless, for everyone who is concerned about the price being too steep, not to worry, the prices here are for no MOQ. I can always negotiable further if we have the amount to push the production and acrylic sheet price to a more affordable level.

I'm looking at the following prices if we have a larger number of order for the coloured sheets.
Top & Bottom layer Combo
- Coloured: $35$30

Body
- Coloured: $60$50

Feets
- Coloured: $22$18

It would be in our best interest for those interested to tell me about your preferred colour, we work out the final pricings and I'll invoice you, accept if agreeable then we go ahead with it. What do you guys think ?

Oh wow, these turned out way more expensive than I thought :(

I actually wanted to buy 2 colored cases for like ~60$ each but it's basically twice as much now.

I'll follow this thread, but I am not sure whether I really want to spend ~120$ on a single acrylic case...

EDIT:

I guess I'll buy 1 clear base case and buy multiple top layers in different colors and switch them around as I like :)

Would be nice if there were pics with different options. I can't really decide if it looks better with a colored body (rest clear) or a clear body and top/bottom layer colored.

I think the amount of choices might actually hurt this gb. You might want to come up with one or two options and then take some photos or make a mockup of what they'd look like. Hopefully we could focus on those options and bring the cost down a bit.

Sorry for the dumb question.....but "w/oled" means without or with led? :-[

Also, do I understand correct that every bottom layer comes with the cutout hole, right? So there is nothing to specify about this?

thanks

edit:

one more question: pls could you specify about the third layout option (7bit)? Is it like 96key, but F-Row having no gaps (total 98key)?

I see that main issues revolves around pricing, colour options, actual mock ups and more detailed picture about the case that you are going to receive.

What I suggest is to really put in what you are aiming to get into the order form, I'll fight for the price and gauge the popularity of certain colours and do mock ups for them.
The order form is not the final order form, I'll only invoice when everything is satisfactory.

I'll specify more in a moment's time.

Will be updating those points in a few days.
@samwisekoi let me think about that and I'll pm you.

Yeah, I guess you should limit the color options to fewer choices like 1 glossy kind of red, 1 opaque kind of red, 1 glossy kind of green, etc.

For example I would be interested in :

1x Glossy Translucent Toxic Green - PL 993
1x Glossy Translucent Light Orange - PL 202
1x Glossy Transparent Blood Red - PL 102

and some kind of royal blue

Having so many different shades of the same color splits up interest and makes it difficult to reach certain MOQs.

Truthfully, reducing the amount if colors would probably help us pick.

There are too many choices. I don't know where to begin.
