Armygroup discussion thread
« on: Wed, 01 December 2010, 12:05:48 »
There was a few requests for an armygroup discussion thread, and there doesn't seem to be one around so I'll start one up.

Official site: https://www.armygroup.com.tw/

A useful site for finding out what the different cherry keys are in chinese:

http://park16.wakwak.com/~ex4/kb/tech_cherry_mx.htm

Blank keys
http://www.armygroup.com.tw/shop/goods.php?id=5370

The ever elusive black Realforce 87U
http://www.armygroup.com.tw/shop/goods.php?id=3607

Thermaltake Meka G1keyboards. Not sure if shipping yet.
http://www.armygroup.com.tw/shop/goods.php?id=5049

Post No.4 has a great guide regarding ordering from the site, giving accurate translations of each options. It will also help to use Google Chrome as it has an automative traditional chinese translator built in.

Do you have a shot of the "exquisite wrapping" shipping options when not run through a translator? Without the source text, it's often impossible to guess what a machine translator means when it decides to spit out gobbledygook.

great guide Fssbzz, really helpful :)

I got there in the end using Google chrome and the auto translate to traditional Chinese.

Anyone have idea on shipping times? I've dealt with some foreign companies and waited months for them to ship out.

they are pretty fast.
they use EMS
it is equal to USPS International Express Mail.
The fastest int service available in USPS.
4~5days to deliver once it shipped.

Ok great, I'm having a little problem with the order, since I got to the paypal screen, which then sent me to a separate paypal form which I logged in and confirmed payment with, I wasn't then sent onto any like "thankyou for paying" screen on the site, do they just update the order after they have manual checked the payment has gone through?

I'm getting this 未確認,未付款,未出貨 under the 訂單狀態 of the order section, does it take a while to confirm they have got payment?

Cheers.

Thanks Fssbzz.

It took them about 5 days before my order was even shipped.  If you have questions about your order, there's a button inside account management to send them questions.  You can send them questions in english, and they'll respond in english.  It's a little broken, but it's understandable.

Another note:  if you mouse over their icons/links in the account management page and look at the link that appears in the bottom left corner of google chrome, all of the links are actually in english, so it helps you confirm that you're clicking on the right thing.

About the steps they take while processing the order.

They will confirm the order first.  Make sure you've confirmed your e-mail address after creating the account by clicking the link in the e-mail they send. Chrome doesn't appear to translate e-mails inside of gmail, but you can paste it into translate.google.com to know which link to click.

After the order has been confirmed, they will check stock and verify that the order has been paid for.  This took 3 days for me.  Even though paypal showed that the payment was transferred as soon as I made the order, the information in account management did not update until 3 days later.  Until that time, the account management window will show that you still owe them money and provide you with a link to paypal to pay it.  Don't make a mistake and pay them twice.

After confirming that I had paid via paypal, it took another two days to ship it.   I also ordered on a Thursday night.  It may have taken longer due to the weekend.

You just literally answered every single question I had! If there was a rep system I would rep you! :)

Hopefully the payment will clear and they'll get it shipped out in 4 days since your was over the weekend, then another weeks wait and hopefully it should arrive, literally can't wait :P First time I haven't had second thoughts about blowing £100 on a computer peripheral/ any PC part really, hopefully it's as nice to type on as the hype makes out to be :)

Glad I could help.  If I remember, I'll add more once the package arrives, such as condition of the product, whether the packaging was adequate, etc.  I only ordered some blank keycaps for my filco tenkeyless, so I doubt there's much to mess up, but we'll see.

I did look for a blank ten keyless board on there but couldn't find one so just went for the UK version, how much were the blank keycaps seperatly?

fssbzz, you may want to add links to keys and such, since people have interest in ordering Blank keycaps and such.

I'm looking at the blank keycap set for the Filco, but think I am going to wait to see what happens with the double shot order and what not.

I got that blank set and they are as advertized. Cheapest set around too, even after shipping to Canada. They also marked it as a gift so I could skip on the customs charges (EKB does no such thing even when asked and I ended up paying $20 extra in taxes because they didn't want to check off a box).

I really should probably try and add the blank key caps to my order that I placed last night, since I'd hope they'd include the expensive shipping under one price with the keyboard.

Would probably just be too much hassle, I'll settle for the printed keys.

Make sure your number is in either a 6 or 11 digit format for either a home phone or mobile, you may have to also include your area code/ country code at the beginning of a home number

eg. 0000 123456 - home
or. 01234567891 - mobile

I'm honestly not sure, I tried googling it and the only thing I could come across was adding a "1" for US to make it 11 digits, so maybe it's something similar for Finland.

If your still having trouble it might be worth just putting in a made a number, I'm not sure what they use it for though as they say they delete it after the order.

I'll think about it. You're probably right about them not using the phone number for anything, so I might as well get an order with a fake number.
