Title: HHKB domes have become heavier overtime
Post by: Auslander on Tue, 31 January 2023, 19:32:08
I've been using my HHKB JP for a while as my daily driver and i have two new in box ones and they are much lighter than the one i've been using, sometimes i notice the extra weight is giving me a slight amount of fatigue and if i switch to one of the unused HHKBs the fatigue is gone.  I bought all 3 HHKB's at the same time and they all felt the same so im certain the one that is my daily driver has just stiffened up a bit over time.  I have a pack of Deskeys silencing rings that are standard thickness, would using those to reduce the travel help to reduce some of the weight?

The Topre domes get stiffer over time due to drying out from use right? Is there such thing as a lube for the dome sheet that could perhaps alleviate this?

This thing happens with ALL switches based on rubber domes, and Topre is not an exception, at least as far as I know.

It happens with Topre.

I replaced my >10 year old domes with Deskeys BKE Domes because they were too heavy (they didn't go to waste, they're now with an aged dome enthusiast).

Is this an enthusiast into aged domes or an aged enthusiast into domes?  :))
