Short version:
We decided to do two colors, black and white silkscreen PCBs! Meaning you can now change your order if you dont want your order of black or white or if you picked anything else or dont care and you DONT want black. All choices that arent black or white will default to black! Let me know asap, if possible on discord: https://discord.gg/t2rrhfg
If you have selected 2 PCB's you can now pick one of each, black and white, if you want. If you don't let me know it will default to black on the second PCB as well!


FINISHED - As of December 2019
In total we sold nearly 750 cases with around 200 of them wildcard R2 versions through over 500 orders!
In 4 orders we had broken layers which were replaced for free right away, one package went to the wrong address but was forwarded by the neighbor, one was sent back because the recipient had moved and we delivered it to the new address. Not a single package was lost, as far as we know. Packages had an average delivery time of 11 days, with one being in California within 5 days and the fasted went to Germany and was delivered in under 48 hours. We also had 60 packages stuck in US customs for 3 weeks.
We did had two complaints that I remember, one about the wrong standoffs and one about a not smooth outline.
Overall the group buy took from around April to September and the last 200 cases were send mid December 2019.
99% of the delay was due to the insane amount of 5mm acrylic we had to order that was just not available at any distributor anywhere near to us or the countries over. We had to order directly at Perspex in the UK, in case of the matte black. They literally had to cast us industrial sized sheets of 3x2 meter and then cut and transport it across the EU to us. Same applies to the GMK Striker Blue color that was made in Italy specifically for this group buy. Our matte (frosted) acrylics were all double side which is not only the most expensive version but also very uncommon, hence we had to buy the 5mm double side frosted clear from all three different distributors in Poland. We waited a total of 3 month just for the acrylic to be ordered, scheduled, manufactured and/or delivered.
As a reminder, 5mm Perspex custom made double side frosted for just $68 is an absolute steal.
The cost is also reflected in our income and final profit. After all total cost (not including labour) and post taxes we made a stunning $4 per case. That comes out to a total of $3,000 profit for many month of labour of producing, transporting, storing, packing, shipping, customer support, ...

I will complete and update this post over the week to give more insight about the whole process in preparation of the next rounds of this case and other projects.

There is only one PCB color, that's whats being voted on. From the discord discussion, it looks like White/USB-C are winning out by a large margin. GB closes on the 20th, so I'm guessing invoices will start going out then. They're doing FCFS batches, so if you're in later you might not get one right away - but if you're in then you're in, you just have to be patient

if you filled out the form properly you should have an email with your responses and a link to edit them

I see you picked 2 of these up, 2 of these will still cost you less than the UHMW one. admit it, you too like cheap Alice I'm stoked for this as soon as I saw the files Zambu put up I started doing research then this just makes it all easier I don't have to waste moneys on acrylic to find out how to laser cut it. it's done for me This is the real budget Alice we all need.

All things run pretty smoothly so far - clear acrylic production started today, will be done end of week or mon/tue next:



Still working on the color versions and frosted full size samples.

PCB will start production this week. So we still looking as planned around july for shipping.

No updates here cause there isn't really anything "big" to report since it's all running smooth.

On the other hand on discord I keep flooding people with small updates
There have been a few streams of acrylic proto fitting of stabs etc. on twitch and an update on the full color LED cutouts but that's all small stuff really.

Definitely agreed, im in all of the servers, but I rarely check them since there is just so much noise and other chitchat going on. Geekhack updates are just much cleaner.

I can see that being an annoyance. But that’s what Pins are for, and he has a “non-discussion” update page within the main Homerow Co. Discord that he posts the important stuff.

Plus, but this is just me, I'm not a fan of having 10+ Discord channels only to check up on updates scrolling through each one where one might have a main "update channel" but the others are a complete ****show of spam I personally prefer to have a quick 2 min glance here to see. But again, that's just me.

there's a dedicated updates channel where i post bigger updates and if someone needs to make a decision @everyone is used so you don't miss the important stuff

that's okay then, the GB here was approved and published 3 or 4 days after the GB already ended and only after asking a not market related mod to approved it... so technically nobody "on GH" is in the GB anyway

Yes, I know you want to see prototypes but I still need to know who's in and who isn't. PCB color also need to be set or as mentioned earlier you will default to BLACK.

05/10/2019 UPDATE: ALPS plate orders will need to be switched to either MX, cancelled, or take a carbon fiber option I can offer at no additional cost as a curtesy for the confusion! 05/23/2019 [LubWon GB][UPDATE]: Last final version wasn't a perfect fit for zeal/enjoypbt stabs so I made another version which is already with the laser guys waiting to be cut - acrylic sheets order for clear is already on its way.

05/29/2019 [LubWon GB][UPDATE]: Last last final final version was a perfect fit with zeal/gateron stabs! Production of easily available clear acrylic is starting this week!

Small mid progress update: Clear acrylic plates are done.

Still need to produce the other 70% or plates and wait for the PCBs (3-6 weeks).
On the upside, cutting 30% of plates took 8 days and that included extreme temperature days with extended laser cool down breaks.
