I have always thought the white case with the black printed caps was the best combo... Very nice HHKB and 23u!

I opened up my hhkb for the first time tonight, and lubed up all the stems and put a Hasu's controller in. Then I cleaned the caps and added a 3D clack. The board is pimping now!  Lubed topre feels soooooo nice!! Definitely even quieter then the type S was. I added a bit of lube around the plungers which stopped the whistling sound I had before on some keys. Now to play around with layouts for the controller another day!

God damnit, I really didn't want to like this RF87UB55 but it's really starting to grow on me. I used it at work all day yesterday and still today and the more I use it, the more I like it. Part of me just wanted to kill my curiosity with it so I could determine that I didn't like it and get it out of my system but I'll be damned if I'm not actually starting to fall in love with it.

I really expected the tactility to feel different. I expected a very crisp, snappy  tactile point similar to how my Macbook keyboard feels but the RF tactility is way different, it's a lot softer. I find it interesting how if you push the keys slowly they almost feel linear but when you're typing fast they have a pretty solid tactile response.

If I end up keeping it I think I'm going to pull it apart and lube the stabs because the backspace and enter keys have a somewhat noticeable rattle. I'm also debating some form of a silencing mod, though I'm not sure which route I might go; dental bands, OEM silenced sliders, or ironed landing pads.

Two are single color black skulls, and the others are assorted night owls. :)  The Fn is a badass Kult Worship Kap.

And I love love the Melvins.  One of my favorite bands by far.

That album gets regular play from this electronic-head here.

There's just something about that album.

Slightly off topic, but can you recommend another Melvins album that has a similar "sound" to Houdini?

I'm so desperate for Houdini on vinyl, but it's ridiculously expensive to get on the second hand market

Hmm for something similar to Houdini, try Stoner Witch and maybe (A) Senile Animal.  Different but probably my favorite album is Bullhead.  Delicious, heavy, drag your guitars through thick mud sound.  So good. :)

So obviously it isn't mine but... damn, these things are not very often seen in the wild like this and I wanted to share this rare sight with my fellow Topre/ HHKB enthusiasts.  :o

Sweet - they really exist!

Any idea how many were made?

Not that I'm ever likely to own one.  Or even see one in the flesh, or in the aluminium as the case may be.

And by case I mean situation, although in this situation the case applies too, in case anyone was wondering.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Tons more pics here ^
Since it was made to order I doubt that 100 number is legit.

This thing is my personal holy grail and I have come to accept I will never own one but perhaps I will find wherever it's on display and take a selfie with it 8)
