I played Puerto Rico a couple times. That's one is fun, but bordering on too complicated for a casual game night.
I've a few games I bought like that, upon opening them, it was just too daunting for a group to learn for a fun night of boards and beers. Steam comes to mind, we opened the box up and noped out after seeing all the pieces and rule book like a dictionary. Still never played it even once.

Yeah, Puerto Rico is fun, but yes a bit too much to just start with someone who doesnt know the rules and have fun night.
For this, I would suggest Imhotep - very easy and can be picked up at one round. Good for fun with friends at the party.

Coming today, hoping to have many fun hours with this game in years to come.
