While I am not a huge fan of GMK or subs, personally, I did just want to drop by and say this is an incredibly well designed set and people should learn a thing or two from the setup of this IC. Perfect execution. Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments so far! I really appreciate them!

Would be nicer if the Hiragana wasn't cucked

The focus in this set was the cleaner and 'modern' look. That's why I chose to go with V1 of the hiragana molds.

I am not, but I find the layout of this IC extremely annoying. I understand what you tried to achieve but it's extremely impractical, especially on a reduced browser window. I'm here to see how a set looks, and what I've got is a bunch of floating half boards.

I really enjoy this set! The novelties are super clean.

However, I'm really not a fan of the lack of 2.75u, 2.25u, and 2u spacebars in the 40s kit. To have to buy base + 40s + spacebars in order to fill one split space 40s board is incredibly expensive, and exactly what prevented me from buying either the 40s or spacebar kits in the Sumi buy. As a 40s user, I would much prefer a trimmed 40s kit with some spacebars, rather than a large kit without then needing to buy a space kit. The R4 1u, Shift, Enter, and accent Enter could be condensed into one generic 1u "send" key. The two R3 " keys are dupes, if I'm not mistaken? The 1u R2 Backspace key can be removed as the Delete key in base fills that role. The R4 1.5u Shift can go as well. As far as I know, only the UT47.2 and Whimsy (still in IC) use this key, and this can be easily filled by some of the mod keys in the base kit. With these changes I think it's plenty possible to fit the split spacebars into the 40s kit. Needing to spend an additional ~$80 to cover a 40% board is unacceptable, even as far as GMK sets go.

As for novelties, some 40s love in there would be nice too! R2 1u black box key, and a 1.75u, 1.25u, and 1u enter would be awesome. If not all are possible, then consider my list my priority list as well.

Probably about as clean as it gets  :thumb:

Hopefully the Hiragana mono kit will not be too expensive as sadly so many Hiragana kits have been lately.
The novelties are really interesting, first time I see anything like that.

-I don't know if the Spacebars kit is really necessary as there are no accent bars. And the base kit already has a 7u. Don't know if 6U are that popular and maybe people already have some white spacebars.
Maybe consider adding Alice support in base and removing the spacebars kit?

-Did you consider Japanese text on the mods, like GMK Masterpiece (but with hiragana/kanji like Kuro/Shiro). Or like what you are doing on the novelties with the text on the "side" of the keys.
Feels it could be interesting.

This set looks really nice!  The Japanese sublegends look thinner than normal... will this be all new molds?

Also can we get some renders of keyboards not cut in half?  It'd be nice to see the set on something that someone might use...

i'm really falling hard for this set, nice work! fwiw i also was having trouble looking at it on a mobile screen and had to get to a full size monitor so i could really look at it closely.

in my mind i started to put together a keyboard with the mono hirigana's and the novelties. then i realized i would need the base kit just for the mods and i started to think about the cost and i was a little less enthusiastic.

what stopped me cold was the thought of using latin mods on a 65 to cover "Home, Pg Up, Pg Dn and End" (plus any of the other 1u keys). am i just missing the 1u keys for R1, R2, R3 and R4? or are they not included? (it looks to me like the extension pack covers smol boards but not 60s to 75s.)

it would also be great to see a 1.75u key (nov or hirigana) to replace "Control".

i'm hoping i overlooked something or you'll take another look at the kitting. either way, great effort with your IC!

edit: please add "=" to numpad in base

idea for artisan: Enso spirale
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ens%C5%8D

thanks for the recommendation, but that novetly is already in use with GMK Sumi!

This set looks really nice!  The Japanese sublegends look thinner than normal... will this be all new molds?

Also can we get some renders of keyboards not cut in half?  It'd be nice to see the set on something that someone might use...

Those are the normal (V1) molds, so they're not thinner than usual.
Did justice to these needs with the new rev!

The novelty mods are really cool, have been waiting for more people to use side print

Ah, dang, that's really nice. I like the geometric touch with the novelties, and the front-printing is subtle but sets it apart from other Japanese sets.

I feel like this should be a required purchase for any Tokyo60 ;)

Please consider changing key R3 "~#" to pipe key to better support basic ISO, the R4 pipe key can stay like it is right now or changed to R4 "<>" key to be more compatible with other ISO layouts.

I'm currently working on a NorDeUK Kit with Hiragana sublegends. This should take care of this specific problem!

What I mean is for ISO-US, the NorDeUK is for other ISO layouts. You base kit can cover at least ISO of USA aka terminal ISO or basic ISO. You only need to replace that R3 "~#" key to R3 pipe key and that's enough.

UNBELIEVABLE! WEEB NORDE! Junge, du machst mich glücklich!

Alright, I was on the fence, but I might be getting several bases and NorDe's now. This might make the perfect gift for my Japanese colleague - full Swedish and Hiragana - if I actually get the funding I applied for. So, so awesome!!! Make sure you market the hell out of this aspect and I would expect this is the first time in the last year that a NorDe set makes MOQ with a good margin before extras.

Danke, Joshua. Genial! <3

Nice update.

The R1 Ramas took me by surprise, but they are very unique  :thumb:
I expected more something like an Enso circle.
I kinda wished there was a Enter Rama similar to the one from the novelties kit with the Red dot for that extra pop from the metal shine.

Picked up a potential typo on the modern deskmat - the text in the upper right corner has "inclose", should that be "enclose" or is that an intentional choice?

If GMK doesn't want to take this, please consider the other keycap producers. They are cheaper and have a faster turn-around time than GMK, especially considering all the sets GMK is dealing with.

Honestly, I would kill for this set in PBT, especially with the front legend novelties (and GMK wait times), but I understand that the kitting and hype around it has already been built for GMK, so... :blank:

Thank you for the recommendation, but we're currently just waiting for the final quotes, because there has been a slight change in kitting. I'm going to publish the final kitting + price + GB date, once we can safely confirm everything.

I'm really sorry for the lack of updates/the long time without any news for this set. I just want to be sure that everything that will be announced is also taking place the way it's meant to be. Had some unneeded stress with this in the past so we learnt from that.

I haven't been this hyped about a GB in ages! IMO the Extensions kit definitely needs to include a second 1u Shift. I would also like it to have 2x 2u and 1.75u spaces, but those might be a bit niche.

Believe part of the issue with it going to epbt could be the colouring of the legends - they're not actually black but a really deep navy from what I can tell (same navy as the base of Sumi, ral5004)
I'm also aware Sumi has had quite a few issues with colour matching, assuming it's this navy that they're struggling with, given it pushes the boundary of being almost black - that's just a guess though.

Here's hoping they don't have the same issues with colours, would like to see this arrive before 2025 haha

My lord - it's happening! All right, funds locked and loaded. I'm guessing, unless some awesome beige stuff comes along, this will be my last GMK GB for quite a while. Excellent work! <3

Forgot about this set.  Has anyone mentioned the issues with GMK Bleached (also WS2) having significant yellowing already?  Might look into that if you were considering this set.  Not sure yet what the cause is.  Could be the source plastic.  Could be related to using WS2.  But Bleached is the only set I've seen it happen to.

I've also seen it happening to GMK Noel (which also uses ws2)

I am really worried about this WS2 yellowing. Has this issue been addressed by GMK?

This problem is in the nature of the plastic eventually yellowing, depending on the environment it's being used in. Factors like sunlight, temperature, humidity and chemicals that make contact with the plastic will affect the yellowing process. Mostly sunlight, but the others will also contribute to it.
WS2 being super white makes the yellowing just a little more apparent.
I've checked back with vendors that ran GMK Bleached and they told there are little to none complaints about the problem yet.

Will the white of the deskmat be the same as the gmk sumi white deskmats? I did not like the Bonsai white deskmat I got, it was more like a shimmery silver than a white. I love the design otherwise.

Also, would love if the mono hiragana had its own base kit :(

Oh man, that is really such a shame. The "the flow" cap was really amazing, so clean and cool. Is there really no way to bring these back at a later time? Quite all right about the M6-C, there are a bunch of these running these days, but it's a damn shame about the artisans. Rainy day also had RAMA artisans up months after the GB ran, maybe that could be an option here as well?

Best,
Johannes

I will definitely keep the option open for a future run of Modern Inks RAMA Works collaboration.
Time will tell if we will be able to offer it!

Aww man. I was gonna jump on those keycaps. I already have a macropad on the way and those clean black and whites would have looked amazing on it. A pity.

Well damn. The RAMA macropad was what made this a buy for me. Don't need yet another BoW set but had plans on doing a matching set build. Oh well, if one is not used to waiting then this is the wrong hobby. GL with the GB

Don’t mean to be negative or anything, but I’m super sad this didn’t become ePBT or MT3 or something other along the way. I was hoping for the interest check to change the manufacturer, as it happened with others.
Q4/22 (at best!) for basically yet another BoW Cherry profile by GMK is becoming a bit pointless, to me at least. Sorry if this sounds harsh now, I’m just sad. I’ve started ignoring every IC that starts with GMK and will continue to do so.

The upcoming sets that I'm going to publish will not be manufactured by GMK, so you might want to look out for those.

This must be the best looking BoW I came across. Placed an order.

Is there any chance of still getting the Artisan from Object Garage?

I guess those artisans were removed from the first page?
I am curious what they looked like.
