http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/05/09/viewing-child-porn-on-the-web-now-legal-in-new-york/

tldr: judge says that pedo porn in browser cache isn't an actionable offense, the guy has to print or save it.

so a couple of things i got from this article, i'm sure there are tons of idiots out there, but really... if you're gonna do something remotely ... questionable, (from viewing yahoo sports, to nsfw) why do it on a work computer? just why? my fiance' has to "live with" a laptop that takes 5mins to boot up, and it's a nice dell icore5 too!, but i ain't never gonna mess with the settings/start menu, whatever cuz it's a work computer. (i lied i did install 2gigs of ram, simple screw open panel and take out if needed, 2k laptop and 1g of ram? wth)

but are ppl really this dumb to pee where they swim? even now with everyone having at least a blackberry/iphone?

I mean i've flat out refused a few "hey my work laptop is slow, can you take a look?" in my day and lectured them that only your IT guy should look at it, for PURE LEGAL reasons.

but the other thing about "stuff" being in cache... well it kinda makes sense... to a degree, i mean you could use the "pop-up" defense, but no website/advertising company in their right mind would ever pop up an illegal pedo thing, plus if it's in cache, then he probably looked at forums or something like 4chan for pedo's (i don't know really)don't those images that get uploaded, get converted by the forum/image site and it's tagged with like a signature? and then you can say "well this guy may have 1,000's of pics in his cache, but he's been browsing from this thread for years"

plus

As the law stands, viewing an image online is not the same as possession, and thus not illegal.

i wonder if the same could be said for viewing movies online then?
