[IC] Deep Purple Linear Switches
« on: Sat, 12 June 2021, 18:21:40 »
Introducing the Deep Purple Switches from Keyboard.People, a new NA Vendor.
We’re founded by a couple of hobbyists who have become deeply immersed in the keyboard scene over the past couple of years. So enough vague information about us and onto the switch at hand.

What are they? They are a full polycarbonate double-spring linear switch manufactured by Tecsee! The switch feel we were trying to obtain is moon-shoe-like, so stronger spring resistance for infrequent bottom outs and an extremely smooth housing.

Deep Purple Switch Info
  • Linear switch manufactured by Tecsee, makers of the Purple Panda and Blue Velvet switches.
  • Purple-dyed polycarbonate housing and stem, aiming to be near Pantone 274-C
  • 68g Gold plated double-length spring
  • Factory-lubed
  • MOQ of 50k.
  • Pricepoint to be near 0.65c but not locked down

What has been done so far? We’ve already received a small batch of uncolored samples from Tecsee, and they came out wonderful! We are both fans of linear switches and, although the market is already flooded with recolored JWKs and heavy hitters, we wanted to give this a shot with this manufacturer after being so impressed.

Sound and Feel? Being an all polycarbonate switch, they are most similar in sound to the Water King switches. The double-length spring provides a more consistent feel throughout the press. There is very little noticeable scratch stock, but heavier lube will bring a deeper sound. The housing is very tight with minimal stem wobble that does not require filming.

Why? We wanted a switch that straight from the manufacturer provided a great experience. Also... you know... because they are purple! They trigger that nostalgia reflex from our childhood gaming consoles and make for some seriously good barebones keyboard pics.

To Do:
  • If we see a lot of positive feedback,  we’ll order a sample batch large enough for a whole keyboard and do a sound test. (Hopefully any one of my delayed GB keyboards shows up, so I can conduct the sound test :^) ). Larger sample batch on its way!

Feel like a white stem or some contrasting color for the stem could be cool

Cool idea, maybe gray if they are going for the nostalgic look like buttons on a translucent purple gameboy or joystick on a n64 controller.

Also watching this and very curious.

I’m apparently a big purple fan so this looks real nice. I find full polycarbonate too clacky for me though, but if you ever run other switches I’ll keep an eye out  :)

I love the all-purple polycarb look - and I'm also interested to see Tecsee's take on the stem material.

We did consider contrasting stems at a time, but once we decided on all polycarb we thought the all-purple theme suited them better.  However the housings are really rad, so they could be prime frankenswitch material. Heck maybe a dark grey kiwi stem would ace that n64 theme and make for a crazy tactile... We'll definitely explore this.
