are infoboxes working yet? im not a mediawiki expert so I'm not sure if it's just me having problems.
-
Looks like I dont have permissions to import wikipedia infoboxes either.
-
rknize is looking at the former. (we're missing something or other?)
-
Hard for me to say, like I said i am not a MW expert so I am just learning as I am creating articles. I thought having an infobox template for group buy sets would be nice, and in addition I can create an infobox template for keyboards and mice (if we're going to add mice) as well.
If you have any recommendations for what should go into each please let me know or post here.
Current GB infobox:
|name =
|other_names =
|image =
|image_alt =
|caption =
|Group Buy Operator =
|Source of Keys =
|Colors used =
|Base Kit =
|Extras included in Base Kit =
|Other available addons =
I plan on adding pages for the addons (page for Tsangan kit, page for ISO addon, page for 10key addon etc) as well as starting a moogle page + category.

key material
printing method
profile(s)
MOQ
final order count
;)
-
Good calls all around :) Final order count might be a little harder to get as well as MOQ but i'll try to be proactive about them and I will contact GB runners for info that isnt readily available.
-
Imported. Give them a try and lmk.

looking good!

Man I'm confused. Am I not able to create new infobox templates? How exactly is this supposed to work?
I've been doing some websearching and it looks like infoboxes are mostly a wikipedia thing and that mediawiki doesn't really support them out of the box in the same way that WP does.
Rknize can you break down what you did to get the template working and maybe a way to duplicate or edit existing templates?
-
I had to create each and every little, tiny, annoying piece of their template and its dependencies. I don't know why you can't create them. Anyway, you should be able to use them now.
-
Maybe I just wasn't doing enough :P I am looking into the infobox that you created and it does look like there is more to it than I thought. Thanks
-
rknize - did you follow a tutorial to create that, or did you piece it together from the WP pages on infoboxes?
-
I followed the WP pages.
-
Cool, it's finally starting to make a little sense to me (or at least, it's working better and I'm not complaining). Expect some group buy set pages to start getting populated soon :)

Any thoughts on this: http://wiki.geekhack.org/index.php?title=Cream_Cheese_and_Green

Yes, good call. I was just playing with different layout options but the bottom text is probably not necessary and can be replaced with a forum link in the same graphical style as the rest of the info.
-
Hey Russ I think there might be a problem with the infoboxes?
I reverted a bunch of changes and the the source looks right but the infoboxes are parsed as some copypasta crap...
-
OH I think I see what happened.
I am trying to track down all the modifications but during that storm of anon edits a bunch of templates got totally borked. At least the infoboxes are back instead of random garbage but there is a bunch of weirdness with the styles.
update - i think i got them all :)
-
There isn't any more anon editing is there?
/me checks his wiki page for Ripster edits.
-
No I think the problem was fixed, but not everything was reverted.
-
Ah. Perfect. Thanks.

Thanks, sth.
