Hey what's up?
« on: Tue, 15 September 2015, 20:34:42 »
Hello GH. I'm Nathan and I live in Wisconsin. Although I haven't really been into mechanical keyboards for that long, it's as if I have a desease or something. It's gotten bad and my wallet hates me. I've already bought a few artisan caps and I have a few old cherry boards on my bench waiting to be salvaged.

I'm using a Monoprice tkl with reds and a Keycool numpad and I just bought a pok3r with clears so I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I'm also very into music and music production and I can play drums, guitar, and bass.

I'm also okay at CS:GO if that's relevant.

Thanks much,
Nathan

I like to play anything from pop rock kinda stuff to fast punk.

I got a HKP G2 Deep Sea and tbh I've forgotten what else I ordered... I know I'm getting the Nuka Cola caps from the group buy but those are novelties.

Violin is fun, I used to play in middle school orchestra but then I gave up on it for various reasons. I wish I'd stuck with it though.

Welcome! Classical guitarist here. I used to do a lot of music production back in the early '00s when I was into pop music (punk rock, progressive rock, and some post-punk indie stuff). I had a bunch of electric guitars and a bass, but no longer had a band to play with. So I started sequencing my own drum tracks and laying bass and guitar tracks onto it. I also smoked back then, though, so my singing wasn't that great.

I wonder if I still have any of those old recordings somewhere...

You're a big hardcore guy, right? Back in the '90s when I was playing out with my high school punk band, we played a lot of shows with local hardcore bands because the two scenes were somewhat linked in those days. I had some buddies who were really into hardcore, too...bands like Strife, Integrity, Hatebreed, Earth Crisis, basically all the Victory Records stuff. I don't even know if any of those guys are still around.

Me, though, I was just a punk rocker. Hardcore was too serious for me.

Welcome to Geekhack!

A nice keyboard collection you're amassing :)

Obligatory links: CS:GO and musicians.  Actually there are a few musician threads, but most of them are several years old.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
