Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral composed of some of my favorite colors:

Green, green, and a little more green for good measure.
Striving to live up to its namesake, I present to you GMK Malachite

KLE and KLE-Render for now, real renders are in progress but I'm wanting to get the IC up earlier in the day.
Designed by my bud baxxt on the Mechkeys Discord most likely to see how much green he could shove in a set before I wouldn't run it. Truly a set not for the weak of green.
Good legend-accurate compatibility for most layouts >=60% as well as some keys to be row-correct(even if they're not legend-correct) for smaller or more unique layouts. 6u spacebars in the base kit but could be moved to the future spacebar kit, which will include accent colored spacebars as well as split options.
Find a simple IC form at https://goo.gl/forms/rt4MqkYaawTFzVpy1
Looking forward to hearing back from everyone!

So now I need to get coniferous and malachite and mix the alphas to see how that sh!t looks.
Loving this green bandwagon you're on right now donut! If only terminal wasn't delayed, but such is life I guess.
-
Interested in seeing some more renders!

This was my thought exactly.

I'll wait for renders, but I actually think it might look aight.

After I gave this design to Donut, he showed me an IC from a couple of years ago for GMK Nordic Pine which I think looks like a cross between Malachite and Coniferous.

Woah, that's actually so legit! Thanks for the link, man. I can totally imagine the sets mixed now (at least malachite alphas with coniferous mods). I dig it, a lot. Looks like I'm gonna have to jump on both sets.
Bye bye money
-
Sorry to burst your bubble but Nordic Pine was cancelled back in winter of 2016 :(
Edit: Woops, now I realize that you were talking about Coniferous. MB.

green is good. Would love to see nordic pine get picked up too! :thumb:

This set is looking nice. :thumb:
I would love for GMK sets to include 1.5u "Code" keys more often. Or something else that would fit nicely as the CMD key on Mac.
-
Probably not general consensus, but I think I would like this more without the lighter keys. I think it would match the source a little better without it. Either way though, looking great imo.

Nice, 40s compat out of the box.
Maybe instead of the bright yellowish-green, it could be a paler teal kind of color? The whole thing has a kind of yellow cast to it currently, but malachite is more neutral/blue. I think reducing the yellowness might help it look less garish and more classy anyway. With the current colors, I think Emerald would be more apt. Heck, call it Emerald City if you want.
In any case it definitely needs a render on a non-green keyboard, since most of us don't own any green keyboards that aren't cheapo 40percent.club-style builds.
I also think a kit with accent spacebars (and small spacebars for the split space crowd) would be a nice addition.

Green set: Yes please.

I see what you're getting at with the teal color, however early on I did do a more teal-ish colorway that just didn't really work out as well as this did.
However, all the colors in this set were taken from various Google images of malachite stones.
I haven't coordinated any renders but I agree, a more common board would be a good start. I've laid it out on a 96key layout (which looks great) and i think something like a Kira would be good. (I don't know anything about rendering keyboards but I assume that most boards could be modeled in 3d)

Is GMK PCB and Malachite a different product?

Yes. PCB circuit board inspired design by me, Malachite is a mineral based design by baxxt.

I like this green theme. ;) ;)
I did not know the exact color code, so I made a similar color.
I hope your keycap set successfully completes the IC. :thumb: :thumb:

The only issue with this colorway is the name: Malachite. The actual malachite is sognificantly more blue shifted green than the proposed colorway renders. This colorway is more like Green Agate.

Looks green to me in google image search. Also, nobody knows that.

Nobody knows what? Malachite is common in various goods in the country I’m from originally, so I just noticed that the renders are more olive green vs even the malachite picture in the OP. Of course all are green, but green can have different hues. Not a big deal, just mentioned it in case it could be useful.

Maybe I need to calibrate my monitor. At any rate, I would be in for this set.
-
Looks nice! Glad to see more green sets coming out.

Any addition kits such as Ergo/Planck, Spacebar for this?

Nothing yet, working on colorway feedback before moving onto kits.

It looks special!I love this green very much!
Hope to succeed!! I will definitely buy it!

Did you try it without accent keys, but instead with a bluer green legend on the mods?

I'll test out some more accurate colors later this weekend, but as this stands I'm really happy with the colorway as it is.

Filled out the IC form, but gotta say I like the fact there is more green sets being worked on this year.
-
Updated the form. New question so I can see how many of you want to change the colorway.

The color scheme of this is really unique!!
-
I love rocks, and I love green, so I would absolutely be in - especially so if there was a lighter green spacebar option!
-
I am SO down for this. So many pretty greens, this appeases me.

Yes yes yes

Nice colorway

I love this green so much. It’ll well suited to my Sage M60-A. Please make this happen

Big fan of all the green! Looks like I'll be in for this and GMK Terminal!
-
So much green omg :O, it looks awesome.
-
Digging this!
I have a few suggestions for artisans if you’re interested:
Concentric circles of lighter/darker green already present in the set, following the crystal formulation of malachite
Minimalist model of the malachite chemical make up
Also, considering malachites relation to copper, I thought some copper toned modifiers would look good and fit the theme.

Meant novelties, woops.

Looks more malachite-ly (in color) imho, though suits a very different theme

Nice
But needs a Norde kit.
