SA Magica is a sculpted SA set based on the popular Magical Girl series, Madoka Magica. The colorway is inspired by the series protagonist, Akemi Homura, as well as Walpurgisnacht's barrier.

Update 2021/03/15

The GB is tomorrow!
The Akemi deskmat was axed due to copyright concerns, which is understandable. (this stuff is part of the reason why I am no longer going to run IP based sets in the future haaaah)
We now have a cable collaboration, as well as a metal artisan with thok!

HectoringMK, based in the UK, will be working on WEIPU connector cables for this set.

The design constraint with this set was to use stock colors from SP to keep the price as low as possible. I'll see what I can do

Set looks nice, if I were you I would include a alpha color spacebars in the mod kit and spacebars kit, not too many people use mod colored spacebars for sets. IMO it makes a set look like it has a chin strap. Another thing I would do is change the F-row to be alpha color too. It helps the look of the set, if you had mod colored alphas then it would make more sense to run a mod colored F-row. Another idea I just had would be to include this alpha colored F-row in the alphas kit, that way you wouldn't need to include them in both grey mod kit and purple mod kit, just an idea idk if it is a good one though, I've never ran a SA set before.

There's only gonna be one color of mod kit for MOQ reasons, but thanks for the advice on the F row! Noted. The black spacebar will be included with alphas and hiragana when I get to fixing the set design.

changed the accent color to white, what do y'all think?

also edited the set to accomodate the most common requests, that being:
- purple mods
- alpha color spacebar
- extra B
- novs remake
- 1.75u return for HHKB
no change to mono or standard legends yet due to the response on that being literally 50/50

and also, novelties are great pain. would still very much appreciate suggestions, lolol

woulda loved to do sculpted too, but I felt like that'd really hurt the compat/price of the set, which is one of the big goals for this :(

ah, yeah, my bad, forgot to mention that. Mono hiragana is gone because Maxkey doesn't have molds for them. Signature Plastics has an enormous lead time on all of their SA sets which is why I decided to switch.

Maxkey unfortunately does not have very many molds for 40%. This is the absolute extent I was able to get out of them for 40s.
I'm a 40s user myself so it makes me sad :(

I'm a bit confused by the ortho/40s. There's two 1u escape in the top row, shouldn't one of them be in the row below it? So that you have the standard choice of esc or tab in the first two rows of an ortho board?

Huh. The layout in the opening post is, as far as I can tell, assuming a board that's five rows tall (like the preonic) and makes no allowances for four rows tall boards (like the planck) which I thought were the more popular layout for non-split ortho.

I hope the OP might consider making the ortho/40s more like their SA Rose set which has, in my opinion, a far more inclusive ortho.

Unfortunately I had to make do with what molds that Maxkey has available right now. The 40s compatibility used to be a lot more like Rose Librarian until I got into contact with MaxKey and we worked out what molds they had and didn't have. I would love to have more 40s support (as I both use and create 40s boards) but it's out of reach right now given the capabilities of Maxkey in this time of the year.

Unfortunately Maxkey has a bit of a steep fee for new molds, so I won't be able to use my icons for this project. Maybe if I run this in KAT sometime...

I unfortunately had to make quite a few compromises on 40s kitting to run with Maxkey. 1.25 enter was one of them. However I am planning a follow up project for this set for 40s needs-- but it'll be exclusively 40s, so if you use large boards, you'll wanna grab your stuff from this set.

I went from sad to excited to sad again reading the IC.

I saw no Hiraganas, then saw that people were talking about Hiraganas, but the latest mentioned it will not be happening :(

I thought this would be my first SA set, but I really wish Hiraganas were available, they were so cute and really fitted the japanese origins of the set.

I personally wouldn't have mind a longer wait time if it meant getting Hiraganas.

once more: a follow up project is planned that'll address a lot of the limitations of the SA profile (including hiraganas!)
there's quite a few different issues that led me to decide on Maxkey and it seems to have ben the right choice given the several, several issues and limitations that have been affecting most large manufacturers in the last year. wait times would be really, really crazy if I were to go with Signature Plastics right now, due to them
- Not currently taking new SA sets (citation needed)
- going through a major plastic shortage, pushing back the dates of several sets (primarily SA)
- general base wait time, which excluding these former factors would already be around 8-12mo

hopefully that addresses the problems that we were facing with SP. I will say though that there will be a KAT followup project of Magica (this time having two or three different colorways) with much better compatibility.

I love the colors. Wish this was the other way around which is dark mods and light alphas. I’ll watch how this will progress. Otherwise, I wish this set lots of luck with the development and sale.
