Switch lube- how long does it last?
« on: Wed, 10 June 2020, 22:43:46 »
So lubing springs is a fairly common thing to do here. I've noticed that it made a significant difference when I put together a load of Ergo Clears.

Does anyone have a clue how long lube stays the various parts of a switch? Does anyone re-lube switches? (I would imagine the answer to that second question would be a resounding no for the vast majority of boards.)

I build that particular board five years ago, and as my office board it's seen heavy, heavy use. Yet it still feels fine. I'm sure the lube has long gone and either the sliding mechanisms have worn down nicely, or my brain has just adapted to what the switches feel like.
