100% m0ar butt flap
« on: Mon, 21 September 2020, 07:38:18 »
Huawei's new "g4m3r" laptop has a retractable butt flap for "allegedly" 40% increased airflow.

So, gimmick,  why not just have bigger vent openings.

This is prolly a moving part with either aluminum or plastic levers, it's gon' break.

Easy answer, thin laptops sell better a bigger vent makes it thicker and maybe heavier, that will last 2 years at best but at that point what the consumer is going to do? buy a new one?
what i am trying to say is that the thinner and less reliable nature of those are both good to the manufacturer. and the lever seems to be into the back of the screen so i feel broken hinges in the future of those

It's not that thin though, and they've even had to use an ethernet flap just to taper the edges.

That narrow screen hinge is also an issue.
Also, what's with that thick front edge, yikes. You could move that network port forward you wouldn't need that stupid fold down, just another part to break.
