does anybody know how to turn off or disable the UEFI diagnostics at windows startup?
i don't know what i did, but on startup now i have to go through that on my HP Envy Windows 8 machine.........driving me crazy and i cannot find how to turn off?

It's likely you either triggered it from some kind of HP software (assistance, recovery something like that) that's bundled with your computer and you should just turn it off through that OR you have a UEFI bootable device that you forgot about and is still plugged in.
It might also be a setting in your BIOS if it's been heavily customized by HP.

were you in the bios playing around ?

i went into the bios afterwards, but still no dice getting rid of it.
something about it is some kind of default for windows 8?
it is about to drive me nuts.........i know there is some way to get rid of it, but i have not figured out yet :-\

if you didn't go into the bios to CAUSE IT.. then it must be a windows 8 thing.. I've never seen it on Win 7

It's likely not a windows thing.

Maybe it's an HP thing? HP website says to press f2 to go enter UEFI diagnostics.. If you haven't touched the BIOS, maybe your f2 key is stuck? :blank:

yea............i'm thinking it is a HP thing.
that's is why i hate buying computers vs building my own, so much bundled garbage on them :-\
will get my IT guy at the office to fix

reload any computer with a fresh copy of windows as soon as you get it.
