All things considered, I should be getting a DK9008 (Ducky Shine 2) with Brown switches and Blue LED and a Microsoft 4500 mouse (I don't need much, but I like the position of the buttons) tomorrow.  It's been out of the mail for over a week, but my uncle wants to make a big show of presenting it to me the day before a major personal event.

I think you are more likely to destroy the traces on the PCB than you are to rip the posts off the switch. Voice of experience. :)

Well i did rip one pad off it was one of the shift keys where the pad isn't fully round due to the slotted hole for the main center pin partially interfering with the solder pad.  Also on a separate key i did actually manage to rip a pin out of the switch and left all of the pad in place.  This was my first project at desoldering anything so i am still getting the hang of it.  only 4 more rows to go on my phantom to desolder.  Both of these keys was within the first 5 switches desoldered.  None destroyed in the last 2 rows.

Huzzah, my great-uncle has finally arrived with the keyboard!  Because it was for a special occasion, it came wrapped.  I finally tore away from the party in my honour to greedily rip it open...  Only to find...

A MAX KEYBOARD!?

It has all of the specifications I asked for, so I'm not going to make him send it back or anything (In fact, I'm using it right now, and I'm loving it to death), and hey, it's pretty gosh-darn awesome.  Pics may or may not follow.

I always thought those cases were sexy. It would be awesome to see a TKL mod, but also have a detachable tenkey with it. Similar to that gamer keyboard I seen on here somewhere. Also, adding a plate mount would make it perfecto.

A G80-3000 is more ideal to tenkeyless mod as you could just pair it with a 3700 and be done and it would match 100%. I don't think there was ever a 1000 size tenkey or at least I have never seen such a thing.

They're a poor man's Ducky, is what they are.  Granted, they're not that much cheaper than Ducky, but they're American-made, readily available on most markets, and look just like a Ducky.  And sure, pics will follow, when I get the chance.

Cherry G80-1501 HAD, one of the cheap MY7000's, a Toshiba 3100e and a spare keyboard for a Toshiba T3100sx.  And a Ducky DK1087.  Accumulating quite a few Alps keycaps, need to put some on keyboards.
