Not surprised at the popularity. For me, this was the perfect opportunity to try POM and the Alice form factor at a crazy affordable price. Super stoked for this!

Dang, Missed out...I was hoping the gb would be open for at least a week so I can order it when my paycheck comes in. Ah well, I can wait for November. Might as well pick up an Alice PCB in the meantime

Looks great! Glad I chose the clear frosted bottom.

Do you mind posting a picture of how you soldered the LED strip to the board?

I place the strip pads slightly overlapping the pads on the board and solder across.

Super excited for this board!  Any chance you can share which led strip you're using? This will be my first time adding underglow on my own.  Also, will the default firmware have LED support built in, or will we have to create our own firmware?

Thanks so much for all the work you've done on this board.

It's standard WS2812B 5v strip, available on amazon, AliExpress, etc...

LED support is built into the firmware.

So I had an idea.
Would it be possible to have a set of holes on the front side of the bottom case for feet to accomodate negative angle (mirror of those already planned)? I think it would marry well with the ergonomics of this layout.
Would the usb port have enough clearance?

The USB port is pretty much right at the bottom, if you used small feet on the back and large ones on the front it would probably work, or maybe a 90° USBC cable so it doesn't protrude too far.

Is it possible to modify the top and bottom piece to allow the screws to sink in like the one linked below?

Yep, feel free to grab a countersink and some flat head countersunk m3 screws.

Sorry, there's not really a good way to hold the case together without the screws coming through the top layer.

Any chance you can do that for us with a small fee? I don't want to buy like 50 screws just to use 4 of them, and I am worry that I might break the thing in the process of drilling  :-X

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the inconsistent zxcv row stagger (it's standard 0.5 left and non-standard 0.25 right). I prefer the non-standard 0.25 zxcv row (sometimes identified as/by 2u left shift) because I find it's a nice middle ground between the ergodox and standard stagger. And I'm happy that at-least the right side of this split board has that stagger because I type using the standard US dvorak layout where the right side is used more heavily than the left.

Quick update on the PCB, I managed to get a design worked out with the fab for what I really wanted, the pattern on the board is now ENIG Gold plate, matte black mask, and white silk! Please enjoy the images of the final prototype below:

I'm really digging these colors over the red ones. This keyboard is going to look amazing.

My thoughts exactly, the red was so-so, and I mostly covered it with frosted case and white POM. Now I'm almost sad I didn't go clear - almost.

So, dumb question. Would you go with clip-in or screw in stabs? I've heard of screw-in causing shorts on some PCBs.

From my count, this requires, 5. Am I correct?

Thanks!

The shorts are caused by the screws ending up on top of switch or LED pads, if you do use screw ins, make sure to use washers on the locations where the holes end up on pads (I think the 2u backspace is the only location where this may be an issue).  Yes, there are 5 at most, if you use a 2u backspace, 4 if you use the split option.

I've got the POM on hand now, ordered it first since my supplier doesn't carry it locally, Acrylic I'll pick up when I start cutting, which will probably be this coming week, hoping to have everything else done by the time the PCBs arrive.  Already have the packing materials and hardware in.  Lost a week of fab time to the holiday in China last week.

Can't wait for the eventual rerun, I wasn't able to order quickly enough the last time. Is there any chance we might get an option for this kind of a stepped effect in the next round? It gives sandwich cases a much more pleasant and premium look imo.

Current update from the factory that I got last night:

"Good morning.Thanks for your waiting.

The boards and components is just deliveried at factory.

They are double checking the board and components.

If there is any updating,i will tell you.

Thanks for your understanding."

so, hopefully soon, AFAIK the assembly itself is a pretty fast process.
