Colors are not super accurate since I did the white balance myself but you should be able to see the keycaps being less saturated than the Pantone which is even more noticeable in person.

When comparing colors it's important to have a light source with a high CRI rating (95+) and as diffused light as possible. Especially with the semi-gloss finish on GMK caps compared to the very matte finish on the pantone chips, if the light is not completely diffused the color of the caps can be a bit lighter (and thus less saturated) due to micro-reflections. A good place for a photoshoot for comparing color would be an open field on a cloudy day.  :thumb:

Very interesting :)
I guess it would be better to go with the slightly darker Cool Gray 2 U then.

Sending the swatches to GMK tomorrow :thumb:

I NEED this in hand already...

This made me giggle ... did you see how the Rad-Away keycaps turned out made by Devlin?

And we're talking about nuances of pantone codes here :)

Just read up on that, very unfortunate for the set :(

The lighting and white balance play a major role when we are talking about colors. And the las pic taken for Radiated Rad-Away is beautiful.

Even if you think it's beautiful, it doesn't match the render. So people are not getting what they payed for. (Unless there were other renders for that GB that I've not seen).

switchnollie sent the physical samples about 2 weeks ago to GMK.

We're just awaiting the sample material. The problem with the past samples is that they were more matte than shiny. The original colors were more like a shiny silver. We hope that GMK can replicate this, but it may cause issues. We're just awaiting those samples right now.

hi, dude, i don't make this too messy. if GMK could not replicate this shiny silver , do we need to change to another similar silver or replace silver color with other colors? This GB has delayed too much ,but i support you and designer to choose the better silver. The uncertainty definite make me feel not so good.

Hey I have a question. The colors in the bottom picture are much more... vibrant (similar to the 3d render) compared to the above picture. Are the vibrant colors more indicative of the final product? The one above looks like they almost have a darker, almost muddy tint about them.

That one is from the time when GMK renders suck major ballsack, I'd disregard that one (the top/first one you linked). The set's based on the shoes so if you look at pictures of those, you should have a precise idea of how it is meant to look. There have also been samples posted a few pages back (for the Tiffany colour, the grey isn't sorted yet).

Thanks Vigrith. Are there any of you guys that are getting this for an HHKB and looking for a suitable Topre PBT spacebar replacement? There don't seem to be any being sold online and I asked a "dye guy" how close he can get and he said not very close with his current dyes unfortunately... I would really prefer not to default to a black PBT spacebar :( any tips?

this includes a 6u spacebar from the looks of the render, dunno if it would work on the hhkb though :(

HHKB 6U is center mounted, the GMK 6U is offset to the "4U" position (imagine laying out all 6 positions, count over 4). It's where the "Cherry style" switch would be on a 6.25U board, or 7U board.

Strange that the GMK 6U is in that position. Wouldn't that make it off balance in a way? Or are the stabilizers enough

Can confirm, the 6U spacebar I recently purchased doesnt line up with the hhkb.

Though this is obviously a bit in the weeds with the colors and such, this is still a set I am SUPER excited about putting on a board!! I'm 0% tempted to vacate my spot, but I need a little somthin' somethin' to keep the faith alive. Please just tell me/ us that this is still going to happen and be sick once we see these bad boys!

They're working on the gray right now.

They're more used to making white/gray grays rather than silver grays if that makes sense.

That's what GMK said a few days ago.

The silver definitely looks to have improved, hard to tell from a phone picture of course but it seems as though improving upon the new sample might be complicated.

I believe from what I was told, a silver glossy color would not work. It'll have to be matte, and it does look like a silver matte. I'll definitely give the deets when i see it.
