I'm just wondering why sometimes smillies work and sometimes they don't.  :thumb:

And what happened to the 'thumbs up' guy?  :(

I also see the text instead of the smilies sometimes, but not sufficiently often to especially notice it.  It probably happens as much when I make a new post as when reviewing someone else's post.

Like this post: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33167.msg977990#msg977990

All I see is colon eek colon twice - no icon.

In Firefox, Chrome and Safari under Win 7.

I'm now seeing this smiley as a green vendor star:  :D
And this one looks like a KeyPop novelty keycap in green with a white chicobo:

I'll take a screenshot when Im off my iPad.  But you are probably partially right about the paint.  Also soldering fumes :)
edit: neat, they look fine on my computer screen, but totally messed up on the ipad.  I'll post my screenshot from Safari.

Not sure if anyone's posted about it, or if it's even a bug really, but in Spy, the times don't update with the posts. Unless you refresh it consistently will update to "0 minutes ago".

Yes, that has been a shortcoming of the current Spy since the beginning.  A replacement is in the works.

When I click on the "last post icon" on the forum Spy page I get redirected to some random spot in the thread half of the time. The other half of the time I am redirected to the last post, correctly.

Yeah, if it could bring you to the physically last post posted that'd be preferable. As of now it takes me to the OP.

Is it taking you to the last place you read the thread from perhaps?

Every time I click on this thread in Spy it takes me to the OP, so I might be doing something wrong :))

EDIT: I did NOT see that little button to the left lol. I've been just clicking the thread link. Make the button bigger :p

Just noticed that I can un-watch just about every kind of thread except a thread that's been locked by the thread creator. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but I definitely ran into this problem with a WTS thread created by user "Amble."

I tried marking it unread, and then reading it again, etc. I tried many different things, but the only thing that worked was a workaround suggested by user "Soarer," where he told me to copy the thread link and edit the location of the link so that the action listed in the link was replaced with the "action=unwatch;" string. That worked like a charm.

Cheers,

K

So it seems like some of the emoticon issues are related to quoting. I just replied to a thread and if I have the quote properly setup the smiley faces don't show, but if I break the quote they do show up.....not sure if coincidence or cause....

Seems it may be the [more ] tag added when quoting a post with an image...[/more]

Thanks, I'll add this to the bug list.  Work has been rough lately, so my GH-hacking time (meta GH?) has been limited.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but when you verify your account (or change your email), the verification page is the old style look.

Not a real issue, but jarring going from white to orange and black, then you log in, and back to white.

There was a DB change that came with 2.0.5.  We don't impose any limits, though.

Hi,

Today, I can't seem to navigate to www.geekhack.org. It times out, so I figured there was an outage. However, just plain geekhack.org, without www, works fine :)

Thanks!

Chrome seems to always leave off the http://www., what browser are you using?

Firefox 23.0.1, but that isn't a recent change.

Yes, typing www.geekhack.org used to redirect to geekhack.org, it would seem, but now, it just times out instead of redirecting.

Not sure if this is a bug but I'm going to put this here anyways. So when I use the more/spoiler tags in a post, and I hit preview, the preview's more tag doesn't work :(. Is that a glitch with how those tags work?

I've noticed that too--been like that for a while.  Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it doesn't.  Saving your revision and reloading the page makes the preview work again.

I have been encountering a backspace problem when trying to post, instead of deleting a letter it goes back an entire page. However this exact post worked fine but not the one before..

Some browsers have backspace as a shortcut to go back a page, is that the issue?

My laptop is really bad about doing that.

This is a web-browser issue, not a GH issue. Most web browsers use Backspace as a shortcut for the "Back" button. Check your browsers settings to see if you can disable this.

Don't feel bad. It happens to all of us from time to time.

I've been doing a bit more poking around and found that if you preview your post with the "More" tags in a private message, the tags will work. They won't work in a post preview though.

Been having a really annoying issue where sometimes threads decide that they don't want to load, and I get a checkerboard as if there's no information there.

It seems to happen most often in off topic, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Seems like a lot of the animated smiley faces have been glitchy lately. I feel like :P is the best example. Seems like half the time I use it, it's the text

:P

Instead of :P
