Title: Guidance with DSI Keyboards
Post by: WA2SQQ on Mon, 20 July 2015, 08:00:26

I'm new to this keyboard customization process, so i apologize if my questions are very elementary.

I just ordered the keyboard above. It comes with unmarked keys. Reached out to the company but have not received any response. Are there any caps I can purchase that would allow me to print tiny labels that might be mounted beneath clear key caps? Any software that's available that would automatically format the text?

Just don't know where to start.

I cant say I'm a keyboard expert, but I'll try and help.

You say that the keyboard comes with unmarked "blank" keys, so you are in need a way to identify each key.

You can buy compatible keycaps with little windows in them "relegendable keycaps" from Signature Plastics here: http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/Default.aspx?A=ProductSearch&ID=/search-results&SE=True

You can also buy Custom printed keycaps from WASD keyboards here: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keycap-set/87-key-cherry-mx-keycap-set.html

Here is some more information on relegendable keycaps: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Relegendable_key

In the product description on the page you linked it says "The keys are relegendable, allowing the user to label them to fit a specific need.".

As for formatting the text, just measure the top of the keycap (cover removed) and print your legends to fit within that space.
