not entirely keyboard related but it will be employed in the service of keyboards. new weller! baby blue... not very 'industrial' but w/e.

That would be the exact same one I have. Used it when i was messing with RC cars a few years back.

I knew you would ask that and i would have to expose my ignorance. No, I dont. We used large tips. However, I was reading somewhere the other day and someone recommended .020 or smaller for PCB work. I'm sure someone much more knowledgable than I, like magicmeatball, can jump in here.

DaleProAudio.com for an ETA and an ETH that will cover standard keyboard work.  Find a smaller tip you like (conical or chisel/screwdriver) for SMD.

Search on pes51 to find their other tips.

Then you can give me the PAC 63 guts, and I'll swap them into my G81-1800 case. :)

I used that exact one on a industrail PCB assembly line touching boards that cost $29k-70k a piece, thats a great iron.
I did the  touch up on boards if the SMT machines placed a part on backwards, upsidedown wrongpart etc..

I got an SGI board with dampened cream alps.  This board is not impressive to me at all.  I will definitely be putting it up in the classifieds sometime in the near future.

I also received a new in box Siig Minitouch (white xm switches).  I'm not particularly crazy about this board.  I may or may not sell it soon.

@es20641: Welcome to Geekhack!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I got my first little order from WASDkeyboards for my new QF Rapid Red!  :)
What was included:
  • red spacebar to replace the stock one with the "quickfire" branding
  • white Mac-style "Command" keys (I'm working on iMac)
  • blank blue cap to replace the FN key, which is working like on a Mac keyboard with the volume controls on F10-12
  • two orange blank caps to replace scroll lock & pause, which directly control screen brightness on mac
  • red cap with radial texture to replace escape
  • blank yellow caps for numbers 1-4, tab, left shift and left alt -> this is my Diablo 3 grip  ;)
My next plan is to order a 39-key ISO keycap set from wasd to replace all the letters, maybe in dark grey. We'll see.
