Just a new guy saying hi.

Figure best place to start posting would be here. Recently grew out of my corsair/razer phase. Really enjoying the 60% FF, already jumped in the deep end and grabbed a HHKB. Eventually want to start making my own boards, but keysets and Artisans will have to do in the meantime.

Welcome!

Great choice with the HHKB, I'm sure you'll love it and your stay here.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Excellent choice in keyboard :)

Did you get black or white version?  Silenced?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Just went with the Pro2 in Black no silencing, standard caps. I may try silencing it one day but I actually sort of enjoy the sound it makes currently. Getting used to the layers took a little bit but well worth it. Typing all day for work on this is such a pleasurable experience. Hands down the best board I've ever used.

That great thock sound :)

It changes if you put, say, a layer or two of drawer liner under the keyboard.  I'm using that on my (white, printed, non-silent) HHKB now, and I feel that it improves the sound.

Without the mat I get a lot of sort of thumping echoes from the desk.

Did you get printed or blank keycaps?  Not that there's much difference with the black version :))
