A little good news.
I received memory foam sheet today. (5T)
I could nt find it in the market.
So I ordered the factory to make it.
It's not expensive. :)
It is a little gift for tx1800 buyer.

I have to cut it. :)

(Attachment Link)

Suppose this would be a question for Kin25 here,

Why have you chosen a sheet of foam instead of a sheet of silicone?

The silicone is extremely flexible and long lasting for decades plus it's a great insulator which would help the pcb from ever contacting the back plate of the housing.

Being a complete newb to keyboard construction just would like to know your preference for foam being used here.

For absorption of noise by memory foam.
I have used silicon sheet.
But it was not effective.
Memory foam is more effective.. I think.. :)

Special order involves some risk

If it was made bad quality. Making again would be difficult.

And it is available at extra cost

Also it makes me a little difficult.

Only GON offers customized colours and then the Manufacturer stuffs up the application and colour tone so easily.

In fact for GON he has to keep returning back to the maker so it could be re-done again, heaps of time is lost plus extra costs incurred will make the customer extremely agro as evidenced in GON's own vendor forum.  Do not envy his suffering and anguish when it comes to making various people's keyboards especially when you are indeed a perfectionist.

Glad Kinnie has at least stuck to ONLY three colours otherwise he shall suffer that same type of torment, over 50 keyboards or more (death of a thousand cuts)  ::) .

Hot pink is special order.

Holy crap that hot pink is hot as crap! So freaking beautiful <3 I'd liked to have got in on a special order but am not complaining in any way as the 3 colors offered are much more classic.

Sorry to be so ignorant here regarding this Group Buy, didn't you say that the foam is provided for all TX1800 purchases or do we need to pay extra for these foam sheets?

If so, then please include one for me and one for Bunny as well  :thumb: .

I assume that he thought he either didn't already have an order or wanted extra based on his first post it sounds like it's a free extra

Yeah you put it underneath the pcb and it's gonna provide some cushion and fill up the empty space.
Works real well for reducing 'hollow' sound when typing.

I inserted memory foam into one of two.
Generally you have heard no foam sound.
So.. Strange sound might be the sound of using foam.
How about the sound? Good or Bad?

I let you know which is used foam after one day.

I honestly can't tell a huge difference but I think this one sounds a little deeper and less high pitch so I like it more but I'd have to hear things in person to be sure.

Kin, can this be used to open switch tops once the switches are already mounted on plate and soldered to the pcb?

I don't know if it's impossible, I know a good set of tweezers can also get the job done, probably not as well at Beast's tools, but they still work with a little bit of finesse.

SO the current switch openers we have all bought can open every switch like you've shown in the video?

Hey Kin25, you are a teacher hence your job will always come first before our keyboards.  Make sure everything is completed before commencing on our keyboards, your job pays the bills hence concentrate on that and then finish what you can with our TX1800's.

I've seen people here lose their jobs because of running Group Buys that drove them insane with pressure and ridicule from this place, I'm sure you've got experience when dealing with unruly teenagers so this may be fortunate for you here on Geekhack.

Just get everything completed at your professional position first then eventually progress onto our orders.

I'm back.  ;D
My busy job was finished yesterday.
(95% of my students got A grade in 'technology', I taught LED, diode, transistor... and machine)

I have received TX1800 housing and plates ( also 3000 plates) last week.
because i was busy, i couldn't check them.
for yesterday and today... I checked all parts.

But..

I can't satisfied the quality.  :(
(although I'm not a strict person)
the fault was made by jig trace.

I will discuss with factory about these problems again.

so.. I apologize to you for my delaying.

tx1800 housing will be delayed.

I will pack for 1800 and 3000 Plate and PCB applicants.

Here are some pictures.

I'm back.

What happens to the cases that are rejected?

Not directly, but sold as scrap by the factory to a metal scrap facility, who will melt it down into standard-sized billets and sell to foundries which produce the more common cast or extruded stock, the kind of stuff the factory buys to make keyboard cases and such. It's the circle of life!

Kinne, so glad everything has progressed, not worried about the casings because every manufacturer stuffs it up due to misunderstanding tolerances or what not.

Very happy to wait because in the long run it means the keyboards are then PERFECT which everyone wants here on Geekhack, no one wants a damaged or misfitting keyboard casing for them to use.  Get it done right because your name will go into these TX1800's hence you have to be a lot like GON when checking and re-checking quality and finish for each keyboard that's produced by you.

Kin25 get it done right buddy so that you have no sleepless nights and/or issues related to your standard of finish on one of the GREATEST Keyboard model's ever made here on Geekhack  :thumb: .
