There will be no more tray KIRA60 buys. A top-mount is next, but probably not this year.

Waiting for the PCB to build this next:

I said top-mount KIRA60. This is how wrong information is spread. Also I said probably, it depends on what I want to work on at any given time.

Just to be clear, I don't plan to have a new tray-mount KIRA60 buy done again. The next 60% buy will be a top-mount, but I don't think it will be this year. It depends on what I want to work on, since there are other layouts I can explore.

I hope this clears it up.

Not the first time this was asked, and I never realized the cringey alternative until someone pointed it out lol. The name was from my uni days, "camping' my friend's house doing my thesis.

It's really heavy and a chore to carry around. I'll have to reduce the brass size lol.

Solarized Dark on KIRA75 prototype

That keyboard has the perfect amount of bezel: wide enough to look chunky, not too big.

Something out of the norm in this thread, I asked Krytone if we can try to have some aluminum caps machined. We used his Crowned Skull design to test what can be done:

The stems are quite loose especially on Cherry MX stems (not so much on box switches) and will need adjustment, but I would say it's not bad for a first try without relying on other people's measurements.

OMG ... this is insane... I wish I wasn't broke right now :( GB?

GB for which one? The 75 isn't really planned any time soon, and the Crowned Skulls are just a test and won't be made for a sale.

Out of curiosity, is that the red shade on the aluminum keycaps that will be used for Kira EXS?  It's very nice, a deeper red.

It is the same red across the buys, from KIRA60 to EXS. The windows where I took the photo has a bluish tint though, and I didn't adjust for white balance.

The quality is really good, but from what I've seen "white" MAO gets dirty easily. I was told this particular finish has anti-dirt qualities, I'll know more after some time. It looks really good in person :)

That's interesting--the ease of getting marks and dirt onto the finish is why I haven't seriously considered it so far. Looking forward to your findings.

Was chatting with thesis about this some time back but my experience with MAO was that it tends to scratch easily given that it's a rather thin layer and a process that produces greyish white rather than a 'pure' white colour.

also MAO is expensive :P

I can get my hands real greasy, if you need some stress testing ;)

I'm torn though. I saw Kingnestea's black Kira 60% at a meetup and the finish on that was drop dead gorgeous. I've been craving a white keyboard, but I somehow think the angular design of this one would look better in black than white... If I get into the GB, I'm gonna have a hard time deciding on color :p

The white was more of a test, and honestly it's really good but like anything white the slightest smudge tends to make it look dirty easily. I would think grey and black is good, matte black would be a nice prototype sample.
