Is this not literally the RS84 special edition, brass and all.?The two look nothing alike, aside from the form factor. Git out.
Is this not literally the RS84 special edition, brass and all.?
I know where you're coming from. How unique can one make a rectangle of brass? It's not even mounted on the same face by the way.
And I guess yours is solid walled etc.
But the brass bit is super similar.
I guess I'm just a big n00b, I'll sit down.
I'm sorry.
I didn't realise that brass weights were such a thing. Had only seen on the RS84, which is also 75%.
As such looks cool, 75% appears to be the sweet spot for me.
No idea how I totally missed this thread.I mean it's nothing significant... I forgot about it until yesterday :))
any idea when when this will be released?
Where/how do you get the physical product produced?Lots of searching for the perfect manufacturer. Pour hundreds of hours into practice and understanding how it all works. I probably did 100 in the first couple of weeks.
Any tips for using CAD software?
Would love to see your take on a 96% board in the future. We desperately need one without LED diffusers á la ZZ96 & RS96. Absolutely love the style of just plain aluminum without anything unnecessary :);)
Updated.Darn :P
X65 will come before X75, just confirming some information before I officially start a thread or something.
I really like that you're aiming for such fast rounds. Sometimes planning builds 6 months in advance can get tiring. Do you know what firmware your pcbs will be supporting yet?X65 will be a modified version of TMK, I'll probably follow the same path, but honestly I've not looked into it yet so I don't really know much about firmware.
will it be possible, to order the 65% PCB separately? Not from me no, you'd also have the problem of finding a case for the PCB although I think the designer of the PCB is doing a lower cost case.
great work!
Actually, I need to expand further.
For future releases (X65, X75, etc), they will be in rounds of 25 and each design will max out at either 50 or 100. I want to do rounds to break everything up a bit, but also it gives flexibility to what I run. For example, I could do X65 R1 December, then X75 R1 January, then X65 R2 February etc. It works for everyone. This also allows me to fulfill rounds/orders much quicker, as the parts will already be machined, so I'd start the GB and within a week they should be ready to ship to me as they'd only need anodizing.
I'll also be changing the colors I use, this is all very much in the air right now, but it's looking like I'll be dropping Gold. Dark Gray and Silver are here to stay, Red most likely is too. I'm uncertain about the future of Black, Dark Blue and Purple. Most of this depends on how I like the color when I actually see it on a board (X60 production). I've also been thinking about introducing a custom, user-polled color for each round, so for example, X65 R1 might have a Sky Blue, and then X65 R2 might have Viper Green.
Regarding "Edition" boards, the future of those is uncertain. I personally like having numbered, and/or limited things, but I'm aware some people also get rather annoyed which ruins it for some people that actually enjoy it. It also might **** with the aftermarket price, but that isn't a massive concern. I really like the Carbon Edition, but I feel like it limits the users that chose that too much, so I'll have to rethink that.
For PCBs, now that I'm not using a universal platform (60%), I have to either outsource or learn how to do it myself. This is why X65 is coming a lot sooner, as I was going to be learning how to make my own, and then releasing it with my own custom PCB. X75 was always going to be sooner, as I would've used the winkeyless b.mini and then that would've delayed enough until I knew how to make my own for X65. Instead, I've been in talks with someone and they'll be supplying the PCBs for X65 so in the meantime I'll learn how to design PCBs.
And finally, just because it needed to be mentioned, there will be no group buys until I have fulfilled X60. However, there probably will be teases/interest checks up until then. Oh and if anyone read all of this, please leave some feedback/discussion points on your thoughts. Thanks!

Just saw this now. This layout gets me hot and bothered.
If this supports HHKB Num row, ANSI Enter and uses short right shift I would wait a lifetime for this layout.
EDIT: Missed the album. See the design better now. Maybe not what I thought, but still a neat design!

damn, i cant find no 65% pcb being sold separately anywhere. i do like your case-design. but i want to make my own. i have experience in lasering alu and folding, so it is really not a big deal for me. since i will not design my own caps nor pcb, the case is the only chance for me to give it a more personal note.I believe the PCB I will be offering will be available on its own slightly after mine. My 65% PCB could also be sold separately on request, but will be packaged with my designs.
any idea where i could find a 65% pcb?
Everything looks great xondat. Plans are well thought out and fairly clear for everyone interested. And THANK YOU for prioritizing the GB's you're currently working on versus ones that are still in the development. It's way better to get one thing out the door then be micromanaging many different things in my opinion. You're too kind :-* The 65% PCB will be centered so it works with X65 and another design. Why should it not be centered?
Can't wait to see what's in store with your future designs. That dark grey and red color scheme you always preview is really growing on me. Maybe that's what I'll get when X75 rolls around.
Stop stealing all my money and good luck with all your endeavors. :thumb:
EDIT: Also, when designing the 65% PCB, for the love of god, do not make the USB in the center of the PCB. :p

I like that you're changing things up to finish projects one at a time. I look forward to different colorways and options in the future. If there was an option of purple anodizing with the x75 that would be some end game stuff for me. I was already considering having the plate re-anodized to be purple but I still can't find anyone local that is up to my standards. Don't make me beg for purple. :-XI can't remember if I mentioned it, but the Blue and Purple I ordered with X60 are test colors, so you might see those in the future without having to beg. When I get started properly with PCB design, I'll be sure to message you.
I, too, like the limited nature of things. This will (hopefully) be my 3rd 75% and I'm kinda crazy and wouldn't be opposed to owning multiple x75s if they offered feature sets that made them unique enough to own multiples.
I just had a custom PCB designed for an ortholinear layout so if you need people to talk to, just send me a PM. It was more cost-effective than I thought it'd be.

It might be obvious, but this is a tray mount 60% case that I'll have readily available on my store next year along with my sandwich style case. The dimensions are identical to X60, including the height of the sides. It's compatible with all tray style cases, unless the corners on your plate isn't rounded.
Naming wise, either XT60 or T60. XT60 is a reference to my poor attempt last year at a tray mount case, but I didn't actually know anything to do with CAD. T60 is obvious too - Tray 60. It'll fit with my scheme which will be X (Flagship), T (Tray), and N (Sandwich). We'll stick with T60 for now.
I'll be getting this prototyped and shipped with X60 weights, along with N60. I'll post a picture of N60 in the next few days once I've finished the last little details.
Made some comparisons in CAD.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/teYuPwP.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/KFCHr0S.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/ahMFs0F.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/ZKbQhfn.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/r87rMk7.png)
The only difference is the weight (and X60 is .2mm taller than T60). Really not sure if I should add the weight - if I do, I wouldn't be able to have it identical because of the central tray mounting point... So any advice, please weigh in! T60 is being prototyped at the minute, so waiting on the sample before I go any further. I'm also not sure if I'll do a GB or just drop some on my webstore (when it's up) as an initial debut, but they will be available all times.

I would really prefer keeping that central mounting point for the case, along with weights! LeandreN had a great idea with his case. I understand if you might not want something similar, so here's my idea. You could split the weight into two separate weights (Keeing the central mounting point) and use the screws to hold them down on the North and South of the case. Not sure if that makes sense. It will weigh a bit less, but at least all mounting points will be available.
Having thought about it a bit more, I'm no longer sure whether the T60 should have the weight.
Weight w/ no post: Having the weight would carry over nicely from the X60, but without the centre post, typing feel on some boards will suffer. Not too certain what exactly causes this disparity between different boards, since my PCBs are about the same thickness, and my plates are technically all aluminium; the GH60 does fine without a centre post, but B.face feels horrible, and GH60 satan is somewhere in between.
No weight: the case obviously loses the uniqueness factor, but as a hipro case with a thick base, it should already be plenty hefty.
Split weight: If prototyping a new, split weight will push the price towards $300, the prospect becomes less appealing.
Will there be some 60% PCBs that compatible for installing on T60 but not on X60?
And will there be some PCBs that are opposite? i.e. fit X60, but not the T60.
What happened to the N60 that was up at the site for a while? Loved the design
We need someone to make aluminum floating style cases to challenge wkl.kr and GON :D
is the TKL still a thing? The file is still a thing, and the idea for X80 is that if I still want more keyboard when I get X75 then I'll probably get it made.
this design with the 8 deg angled form of the current X60 would literally be my perfect keyboard

The central mounting point would stay. I'm thinking about just having an external only weight like a 356 Mini.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/o2jBAxi.jpg)

External weight sounds good to me! It's a great idea. Would it be brass or Stainless Steel? Both materials for the weight. I'll be doing brass plates along with CF, polycarbonate, aluminum and stainless steel.
Any chance of making brass plates to sell as well? Probably jumping ahead of myself here, but one can dream!
On a side note, do you think you'd ever make a tray mount case with a removable top and an external weight? Kind of like the 365Mini but with standard 60%, Winkeyless, and HHKB tops?

Okay I forgot that I really like external weights. This is here to stay - I'll get a new quote and get this made ASAP.

If I think tray feels as good (but different) to X60, then maybe I'll do what you suggested, but otherwise it'd be really pointless.
Beautiful and perfect. Didn't get in on FJELL r1 so if this stays on schedule, count me in. While it's nice that it keeps the dimensions of the X60, it's a good thing that the T60 now has something to set it apart from the others.
Also, just curious, is the anodization on X60 and T60 soft or hard? I guess it doesn't really matter since I still don't know if my (R4??) black FMJ is soft or hard and it's completely fine, I'm just curious.
Are you serious? All the plates?! Woot! Any chance we could get ANSI only plates as well? So excited for brass and polycarbonate!! I'm totally in for the case, and I love the exterior weight design.
I hope you make tray versions! I just think it would be nice to have designs like the 365 mini. Don't get me wrong, X60 is perfection, but having something you can easily switch in and out with other standard plates would be really cool and different. Or X60 V2 would be awesome too! I need a Winkeyless 60% in my life! Lol.
It also features a massive brass weight to close it all instead of something more sensible.
I'd like to buy one of those.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/27QJQh6.png)

This is good news (if you're serious)... I for one would love to see more funky layouts come to life in quality customs. Realize it's tough because of necessary production scale and the funkier layouts will draw less folks in, but still hope to see you take a shot with things like this!

Definitely serious. Obviously it won't be a large run, but it's on my list to develop properly when the time is right. Same goes for other layouts, they'll happen in smaller runs (which means the prices will be higher, but suppose it makes sense). I have a couple on my mind already, but not going to work on those until I've at least started X75.

I'll say it now just in case people want to update things or whatever - there have been a lot of submission that I would consider text logos, or more easily put, not icon logos. It means a lot are immediately not considered which is unfortunate because some are good if I was looking for text logos.

I don't know why nobody asked, but is there a kind of shape you would prefer to see, or are there details / characteristics you could imagine being part of the logo? Like something that inspired you when doing your designs / building this brand.

this one's a bit more abstract, but again, playing with the 8 degree angles.
it's a little looser but everything is consistent so it should fit together seamlessly in a way, mimicking the DIY aspect.
