Nice!!!! Very kind thing of you to do. As a big time winner of the v3 sale, gotta sit this out, so best of luck to everyone who enters! (I got my tripleshots, couldn't be happier  :p).

But, a little hype in the meantime. Mint chip Beard Boy from V2 sale:

And just got this baby in my e-mail!

EDIT: And... looking back over the B-Stocks, I should have gotten 8W to match my mint chip =X. Oh well...

I'm guessing the title helped - I opened the thread expecting to see a "see you in xx months" and instead found a givaway!  Then I entered quietly in the hope of increasing my chances and only posted hours later, after you did.  Not friendly but I really want a fish(?), people should be nice and say bye as I was planning to rather than only posting when there's caps to be had.  I'll shut up now :-[

Me too, I'd rather see death coming than suffer the indignity of being trampled from behind by midget horses.  I don't rate my chances of survival either way :))

See at first, I was thinking that choosing 100 duck-sized horses was the optimal answer. After heavy discussion with a peer, I'm not so sure anymore. I don't think your chances vs. 100 of anything can be particularly good, though a horse-sized duck is a VERY LARGE DUCK.

It is!  but it's still a duck - soft feet and only two of them so poor balance, and no teeth.  And like an old school Dalek I don't see how it could get up stairs...

Unless that horse sized duck is a momma duck protecting its babies, I wouldn't really be scared of it - you could probably even distract it by throwing loaves of bread around :))

Aww. I wanna enter the giveaway but I can't. ;~; *grabby hands at axol and blue/clear caps*

Also, the answer is obvious, horse-size duck, I just need to bring some big loaves of bread.

Also woo my cap shipped!

In the unlikely event the person who wins is willing to part with that blank blue/clear, since I know you aren't going to part with the blue/clear axol, PM me maybe and we can see if we can work something out where I give you money for something you got free? >.>

I chose the 100 horses. I feel like a horse sized duck could hurt you with its force alone. Hopefully I win this or get in on whatever the next sale is, after missing all the other ones!

only reason i said horse sized duck is because i would not like to get kicked repeatedly by a punch of ponies. Then you have to live with the fact of getting beaten up by small ponies.

If I had to possibly die fighting an animal of some sort, I felt that 100 small horses would be most poetic and epitaph worthy

The sound of tiny horses running around is probably reminiscent of clicky switches as well

Thanks!

The linework was hand-traced from the original Cherry MX patent, although I condensed the parts into each other and removed some of the shading for clarity. Afterwards I freehanded the AXOL keycap on top. Just today, I finished the first stage of printing!

90161-0

The 11x17 inch posters are being printed on very nice Mohawk Linen Cream paper that was leftover from one of my previous art school projects. There are 15 prints that turned out nicely, but one will be turned in to my teacher (sneakily using class assignments to work on personal projects) and some will probably be cut out if any of the wood typography misprints.

As an estimate, there will probably be about 10 final prints in this edition. Katz and I are thinking about doing a raffle or sending them out as bonus prizes with a future set of keycaps. Would you guys be interested?

The final product will look something like this:

I really like the design but how do you intend to ship them?  Not sure on the paper type but I'm thinking it would be a shame to fold it, maybe you could roll them up in a tube with the keycaps inside?  Not sure what that does to shipping costs...

We would definitely ship them in tubes so that they wouldn't have to be folded. I just talked to Katz for a bit and we're probably going to throw in the posters along with a small batch of keycaps that would match the final number of posters we end up having (one poster for each keycap). We're looking into what that would do to shipping costs, but most likely the sale that includes the posters would cost a little more to compensate for the poster materials/any extra shipping costs.

Very cool!!! A raffle would be neat but adding it to a sale sounds better cost wise.

Our fearless leader may still be recovering, but you didn't really think team Katz would just let the hype train die, did you?
Handmade, wood type letterpress posters incoming... ETA=???

Did you draw that cap in the picture? it's done really well!

Thanks!

The linework was hand-traced from the original Cherry MX patent, although I condensed the parts into each other and removed some of the shading for clarity. Afterwards I freehanded the AXOL keycap on top. Just today, I finished the first stage of printing!

These look fantastic. I would definitely want one to go along with my Katzen cap :D

The deed is done.

Already taking into account the one I have to turn in (and ones set aside for the crew), there are 10 prints of good quality. There's also a single B-stock poster that somebody might actually like more; it was a ghost print, meaning the typography turned out ~40% lighter. You can see it at the bottom-right of the first picture below:

These are so nice looking, did you do all of them by hand? Including each diagram in the back?

Thanks!  ;D

I did the original drawing by hand and then used a printmaking method called a pronto plate to replicate it. The typography was handset, on an old style Vandercook letterpress (my school has a letterpress studio with tons of antique lead and wooden type). Afterwards I just had to align each page of the printed diagram and run it through the press.

Here's a pic of what the press looks like, along with wood type that I set up for a previous project:
