I believe most of the kits will reach the moq, with text modifiers leading 2:1 over icon.

Maybe the icon modifiers would have a better chance if they were standing side by side with the text modifiers instead of text first and icon almost at the bottom of the page.

I suggest for the mod sets to be presented in a single entry with the two options. So people who do not know about the two alternatives may be presented with both to choose either one of them, or even the two sets.

That would be great, but require more work on the website. They could just put them side by side in categories: [Text, Icon] [Text pro, Icon pro] [INT Mono, Mono, INTL: NO, INTL: FR, Cyrillic] [7U spacebar, 6.25U spacebar] [Text RGB, ICON RGB] [Base blank, Mods blank, Numpad blank, Ergodox Blank, Windowed, ISO blank, RGB blank]. It doesn't require a lot of work and, IMO, may be a better disposition.

I think either way may work. Alternative mod sets should be presented as options for the same function for people to be aware of both. I think some that did not join the IC phase may not know about the alternatives.

I'll try to talk with Tyler about that tomorrow, but honestly I don't think that is the problem.

Just added Text Pro Mods (sorry, I prefer text mods over icons) and both spacebars to my order.  Hopefully we can get more people to order so we can reach those sweet, cheaper tiers.

Thank you Matt3o for organizing this great looking and very well thought out GB.  :thumb:

How about this? The 'brick-and-mortar'-style letter 'Z' from Zork?

hardcore :)

It even fits with the theme! Also, a grue keycap would be awesome.

Cool. :)  Matt3o, maybe put these mockups in the OP?  They'll certainly entice people to add more kits.

Mono numbers but not mono punctuation keys (my choice)? Still excellent.

I'll try to talk with Tyler about that tomorrow, but honestly I don't think that is the problem.

Simplest solution would be to fix the sort order of the child kits.

Given it's running on WordPress simplest fix is to add a custom field to the groupbuy pages and order based on that in the PHP that renders the list.

Basically one line of code change plus entering some numbers on the relevant pages.

I asked SP to put the kits in order of insertion (that would make perfect sense), but it seems it didn't work. I'll try to ping them again tomorrow.

You will need either two number sets, or to use the mono legends with symbols for your number row.

I was browsing GH during my break at work, and I spent about 5 minutes searching for this thread in the GB subforum before remembering that it wasn't there.

This GB isn't gonna get half the exposure it deserves.

Funny experiment

put in your signature the following link:

Code: [Select]

replacing USERNAME with your username. this way we will be able to tell if the signature thing actually works.

The result of the experiment is here: http://lab.cubiq.org/granite/result.php

wait... so... to get an HHKB layout, you would have to spend $80 in mods... plus the base set... just to put like half of them in a box and never use them...

and people say topre is expensive...

there are no MX keyboards with that layout, it's just for custom creations, so it wasn't at the top of the priority, anyway just break those tiers!

yeah i understand, but it's not realistic for me... and flat profile is less enticing to me than sculpted.

someday i will find the perfect mx hhkb set... for now i will leave your thread to interested parties ;)

honestly i dont mind abs for spacebars, they're cheap, usually not warped and a bit of shine on a key that a very calloused part of my thumb touches doesnt matter to me, compared to shiny 1x keys at least. if it wasnt clear already, i'm using a hhkb which has ABS spacebar anyways.  i know its not easy to match colors sometimes though between different plastic types.

warping is not really an issue here (have a look at the picture in the first post), so I really see no issues at waiting for a DCS spacebar. Only problem is maybe thickness.

Updated my signature, and posted here asking for this thread to be included in the main GB forum, where I think it belongs.

Everyone put a link to this GB in their signature? That'll at least spread its presence a little wider.

Done

Another potate mockup: Graphite Leo FC660M w/Icon modifiers.

This looks good.  I have been thinking about getting a FC660M with blues.

You should get one. The Leo is a very high quality board, and its layout is on par with a TKL. And with the Graphite set it will have the nice look it deserves.

Remember that Leo's spacebar is not standard and you need to cut and glue the stems to make it compatible. IE: take some spare spacebars!

Funny experiment

put in your signature the following link:

Code: [Select]
http://lab.cubiq.org/granite/sig.php?u=USERNAME
replacing USERNAME with your username. this way we will be able to tell if the signature thing actually works.

The result of the experiment is here: http://lab.cubiq.org/granite/result.php

(don't try to cheat! I see you!)

Done.  I clicked on the link one time to verify I had put it in correctly.

This is not working for me...? Am I doing something wrong?

the script does some checks to prevent counting the same person more than once.
