KMAC 2
« on: Fri, 25 January 2013, 23:34:58 »
As many of you seem interested in (even) more Korean aluminum cases, I have worked real hard to obtain these.  I do not even speak the Korean language, but I went out of my way for the last 2-3 weeks to make this happen.  I cannot announce things that I am not sure is going to happen.  The KMAC leader just announced this week on KBDMania that we are working together.  I will bring more Korean aluminum cases, and he will be my provider for Cherry keycaps.

Here are the options:

KMAC 2: Titanium
KMAC 1.2: Silver, Titanium, and Red

Silver and Titanium are the original colors.  Red is a new color they decided to use.

KMAC Pad: Titanium, (Silver?)

Please discuss here if you are interested.

I will also be providing switches, stickers, and springs.  Alaricljs is my right hand man, and he will be providing soldering services.

Included Parts:

Assembled with blox(I believe the blocks was changed to match the color of the case after listening to their fans):

Good work!

These are just the cases correct?

Also I never figured out if Titanium is actually the material or 'titanium' is a color

All these KB's coming in around the same time doing my head (and my wallet in!)

Thanks for the clarifications. I was thinking how baller a full titanium case would be (light and nice color tone and stronk)
A big downer for me is the shipping. from US to AUS isnt easy on the wallet.

I might have to do a Pre-Order like the LZ GH.  They will be listed on my web-site.

No KMAC Pad 1.2/2 (at least I don't think so).  The KMAC Pad as a flat piece is already nice enough, but if they did make a Pad 2, then it would just be slanted.

ok well ill give you monies for a red KMAC 1.2 right now then :D

They could redesign it a bit maybe add a few more key to where the fn switch is. KMAC pad 2 would be a must to go with a kmac 2 non matching cases would be a turn off.

The following picture is considered winkey.  The bottom most row is 1.5 - 1 - 1.5 - 7 - 1.5 - 1 - 1.5

People who prefer it to be winkeyless would just add the blocks to make it 1.5 - - 1.5 - 7 - 1.5 - - 1.5

Although these are both considered winkeyless layout, they both exclude the Menu key.

Also the block is now a matching color to the case.  I am not 100% sure, but I believe they have changed it.

Right, but I believe alaric would be able to provide stabilizers for cheap.  Switches would be available via my store.

Cherry MX Blacks would be $38 for 110 switches and Cherry MX Blue would be around $45 for 110 switches.  I am sourcing browns and reds.  You are looking at $45 for 110 switches for those as well.

If stabilizers are not available, then I will try to source them myself for very little cost.

What do you mean by that?  I think I am misreading something right here.  The item contains the case, plate, pcb, and all the screws needed.  The package also includes the tool to screw in the screws as well (I hope I am not wrong here).

You do not need to get another keyboard to put in this case.  I believe that is what mkc did.  You had to purchase an aluminum case that would fit the Filco.

Any idea what the ETA on this buy is?

I'm really hoping its in at least a few good weeks time. Just drilled my wallet empty with my interest in the latest LZ GB/Phantom currently ongoing.

I'll be almost over 1k for these last 2 weeks on keyboard related goods haha.

Also good pricing on the switches. Lets hope we can get more variety!

Would USD500 be a safe assumption to budget for in terms of KMAC+Switches+Stabilisers+Soldering services+Shipping to say Singapore/Malaysia? i.e. would assume similar pricing to the LZ-GH that is also running?

The approximate pricing is around $385 + approximately $16 (assuming Large Flat Rate for USPS) which would total to be $401.  The original cost was around $360 + shipping which would be about $57.31 via EMS which would total to $417.31.  I would be able to save you guys a little money on shipping because I am bringing them all here together.

This is only an approximation, and it would be something close to that.

Lol i meant buying switches, stabilisers, soldering flux and a soldering iron haha.

I reread it, and it makes sense.  This is a slight approximation.

$401 (KMAC 2) + $45 (switches) + $6 (stabilizers) = $452.

I would not really calculate the flux and iron because it is an important tool in the household, but it would cost about $45 extra if you want to include that.  Plus you have to buy a set of my keyset to make the keyboard look cool which would cost an extra $100 :P

Joking aside, it is a little costly in all the final steps.
