HHKB Keysets; Is it True?
« on: Fri, 28 October 2016, 19:54:56 »
Someone on this forum mentioned that HHKB printed/non-printed keysets are no longer being manufactured.  Is this true?  If so, why?

I think the HHKB replacement keysets are still being manufactured. Notably, Elitekeyboards still has stock of them.

However, the multicolor replacement sets for Realforce keyboards (Such as the pink printed set on my Realforce) are NOT being manufactured anymore. I can't remember the specific reason for this (or if one was ever mentioned), but I think it had to do with the market being too small.

Oh!  Maybe that was my misunderstanding, I forgot which thread I saw what I thought was what I stated, but it may have been what you just said instead (and it may have been you  :)).   That's a relief, though, but it's a shame for RF owners, I have yet to have the opportunity to get one of their boards, but I'd sure be interested in the multi-color sets if they were to continue selling them.

I was considering trying to get in contact with Topre Co. about mass ordering a certain color set. I don't know if I have the time/energy to run a GB on that scale right now, but it might be worth investigating for an inclined individual.

Has anyone tried to do this before? I wonder what's the MOQ if they agree to make these sets again. They still have the printed red, orange, yellow, blue and white sets available on amazon jp though

AFAIK Nobody has tried it yet. Those that are still available are probably deadstock.

There is a small but dedicated market for custom Topre keycap sets - I'm hoping a manufacturer somewhere will step up and make some.
