What an absolutely stunning build! I’ve never appreciated the beauty of Nuclear Data until this moment. The two tone green works pretty well.

Do you use the numpad more than the characters that your forty keyboard is missing?

Numbers are on layer 2 of the top row, but I really like using the numpad. Makes things a lot easier.

I'm in the middle of a similar build myself. Casual usage isn't bad with numbers on a different layer, but sometimes you need heavier data entry and nothing beats a dedicated numpad you can quickly pull out and utilize.

Your set looks great!

The Roadkit is what I went with as well since it supported the specific layout I wanted. I'm currently having a case made for it, but now need to source the right specific keys I need to match it to my Planck to make it just perfect.

I'm building a Roadlite to match a Planck build (mostly for show, to be honest), but I do have the wite powerderd MiniVan and Roadlite (along with a couple other Van pieces) added to my cart for more of a daily use. I love my JD40 (though there is room for improvement for sure) and I need a num/macropad, so the Minivan combo seems like the best currently available option.

Just can't seem to pull the $500 price tag on the cart with all my items in it. It could end up being my daily endgame though as long as I can still keep building all the various Mac custom boards I have in the works.

Lowercase legends somehow look just right on a 40%.

I've no idea how you all can get used to arrow keys being in one row. It just doesn't seem intuitive to me and I've tried them before on vintage Apple boards in the past.

This thread, and 40% boards in general, deserve all the love. Here's what I put together from leftovers from sister-in-law's GMK Led Zep, her original tada68 caps, and arrows from GMK Demonic:

Same ole ACE-XT40, with holtites added to a planck pcb for hot-swappability, and 78g zilents (silent tactile). Still trying to make the murderface colorway work for me. Already figured out killing spree: black and red. The red blood on white face is harder to make work, hence the white alphas.

  • SA sublimated caps from PMK
  • Kailh BOX white switches everywhere, but...
  • Kailh BOX navy switches for space keys

I think it looks pretty cool, if I do say so myself...
