do you guys have any issues with fraying on your mats? I'm thinking of sewing up the edges of my tekmat, and I'm not sure if it is worth the effort or not.

I've never experienced fraying on any but the cheapest possible ($2) no-name mousepad back in 2010, when "gaming" pads were much less common.

Although, I've only ever worn out _one_ mousepad total: SS QcK mini after two years of usage. Idk maybe I'm just nice to my stuff…?

Even some of the best cloth ones will fray over time if you wash them or drag your wrist across the edges like I tend to do (not all, but some), however Roccat offers some with with a sewn edge.

I just purchased the Glorious PC Gaming Race mousepad.  There are a lot of extended versions.  The edges are sewn so fraying is not at all a problem.  Another bonus is it comes in white or black!

I have a QcK and it's been holding up quite well. I've been using it for around a year or so. My only complaint is that I sweat a lot on my palms and kinda on my wrists whenever I type and use my mouse so the mousepad absorbs my sweat and I should probably plan on washing it. It collects dirt (and sweat) easily, not the most ideal mousepad for people w/ sweaty palms imo. It's still a really HQ mousepad and especially good if you don't have sweaty palms.

My QCK+ has frayed and seperated a bit on the front corners, but I've had it for probably a decade or so and washed it a half dozen times in the clothes washer so... I think I've gotten my like $15 worth. Planning to buy a couple new ones soon with a second Mionix for my girlfriend.

How easily does it collect dirt?

Same as any other in my experience.

Ok ok I've ordered the QCK HEAVY XXL.

It's supposed to arrive this evening already. Can't wait... should work great with my G403.

I have the QCK XXL now. It's AMAZING. Well... the Roccat Hiro is a bit smoother for glides, but the QCK gives me more precision.

I did Battlefield 4, Doom 2016, and OSU.

Yesterday I moved from the Avior 7000 on to the G403, which already was a great improvement. Now with the QCK XXL, everything just clicks and really comes together.

Also: yes, it stinks initially. I like those smells, but I can image people may dislike by it. But it went away after an hour or so.

The seams of the edges are glued well together, nothing weird their.

Also, this thing is really really huge, 90cm x 40cm. I have plenty space left with a tenkeyless on it.

Some people complain that it doesn't lay flush on the table. But in my case, it is perfectly flat.

I have used the Glorious XXL and love it. In particular, the base is solid and has a good non-slip design, which was always my complaint with other extended mousepads. Also, the surface is pretty scratch resistant, which is more for cosmetic purposes i suppose.

You may want to check out these reviews as they have reviewed the Glorious and some other mousepads that may interest you:

I should've listened... QCK XXL is a dust magnet. It works great still, but I really want a glorious or similar. BUT SHIPPING is 40 dollars to EU blegh.

I have a an extended Perixx DX-2000 since years and years.  Apparently they still sell this very model.  That thing is totally beaten up yet holds the beating very well.  I don't game and don't know much about mousepads but I love it : put my HHKB on it and mouse either at the left or at the right (I'm ambidextrous with the mouse and regularly switch the mouse from left to right hand, so extended pads are really great).

It's stitched and 3mm thick. I see it for 15 EUR on Amazon.fr.  May buy a new one as mine is getting really old!

I like my mousepads thick. Extra cushion for the pushi wrist. A desk can be really hard and painful after a long day of typing. That's the great things as well about the QcK: it's really thick.
