Any interest in a group buy for the let's split?
In case you dont know the let's split.

**The 2nd part of the interest check for the let's split.**

So this is a 2nd interest check.  I have some more updated part quotes to give people a more accurate price point.
Also, you will be able to order just PCB, PCB with parts, or just a case! Multiples will be allowed!

**[Google Form!]
https://goo.gl/forms/Ebj7dkP3SrZJ1JgL2

**Prices**

* PCB - $6
* Pro Micros - $8
* Acrylic Top/Bottom - $15
* Aluminum Top/Acrylic Bottom - $28 (aluminum with bead blast finish)
* Aluminum Top/Bottom - $36 (aluminum with bead blast finish)
* Nickel Screws for case - $3
* Nickel Standoffs for Case - $4
* TRRS Cable - $3
* Micro USB Cable - $3
* Diodes/resistors - $2
* TRRS Jack - $2
* RGB Strips - $3
* Gateron Switches - $.28 a switch for less than 2000 switches ordered. $.24 a switch over 2000 (trying to track down others. But gateron for sure) (Orders will be in sets of 10 just to help me out.)
*Matias Switches. Read below.
* Shipping CONUS will be about $9 (shipping cost+ some extra packing materials) unless I can find a cheaper way to ship :)

**Some Quick Price Estimates**

So... the cheapest package (Acrylic case + parts + no RGB + shipping CONUS+Paypal fees) would come to about $57 shipped.

The most expensive package (alu case + parts + rgb + shipping CONUS + Paypal fees) would come to about $83.

**CASES**

So... just to go over more about the cases.  I will only be choosing 2 of the 3 listed more than likely(unless interest becomes huge).
The 2 most popular choices thus far are aluminum top with acrylic bottom and aluminum top and bottom. Aluminum parts as of this moment are only going to be bead blasted.  I may offer powder coating for an extra fee or anodizing.  The Acrylic parts will be able to be chosen from 5 parts.

**Cases with better underglow**

For those wanting RGB Underglow, I will be offering frosted transparent acrylic bottoms as well. ($1.50 extra probably)

**International Shipping**

I will be offering international shipping.  The shipping cost will be higher.
I have an offer from /u/mechboards to ship all UK parts to him and have him ship to people over there. That will greatly reduce the price of shipping for the UK.

I will be reaching out to other vendors to see if I can get more deals like this going.

**Switches**

Gateron switches will be available. I'll probably limit it to 4 different types. We will see....

Kind of big news, If there is enough interest, I will offer Matias Quiet Linear switches. MOQ for this is 2500. They will be $.35  a piece. If we hit 4800, it will drop to $.22 a piece! Right now, they only have the linear switches in stock. The others will come in to stock in july, and I will be doing a group buy then more than likely!

**Keycaps**

Right now, the cheapest keycap set I have found is a $27 set of DSA Keycaps.
I have contacted a couple manufacturers to see if they can offer a set for us! Will keep you updated!

*Keycap update*
We can get this keycap set for 30 each + shipping! MOQ of 50

**assembly**
Assembly will be $10 :)

**Timeline**

 GB will hopefully open in a week and will run for 2 weeks.
After it ends, 3 days for invoices, shipping will start in a month after hopefully :)

really keen. I am currently using my plancks at work and at home. Would love to give this a shot. Not too keen on the keycaps though. Im using zealios switches at the moment. Will that be part of the options?

Right now I have not looked at zealios switches.
I have one other person requesting them.
Ill see if I can track down a supplier.

I have multiple international people interested.
For UK, I have a vendor who offered to have all parts shipped to them and then mailed from there to save money.
I am finding other ways to make shipping cheaper

Is there any assembled option for let's spilt? I'm not confident enough to solder those diodes..

Same here. I'd rather not mess with the diodes, but at these prices I might give it a try

Building a let's split is super easy. Through hole diodes are just as easy to solder as switches.

But I will be offering probably a $10 service for soldering diodes.

The price looks intriguing. I also wonder about Zelios, but Alps would be even better.

International shipping would be nice, so I don't have to use a proxy.

Sorry for this total noob question, but diodes not the only things need to be put there right? When I mean soldering I mean it will be like a complete PCB where we just need to solder the switches. So until that phase, is it still $10?

Aside from diodes, the pro micro (controllers) would also need to be soldered on. The problem with him doing that for you, if I remember correctly, is that one switch gets soldered underneath.

You are absolutely right about the soldering. A switch will need to go underneath.  I can solder everything up to the pro micro. I can even do the pins on the board for the pro micro, but not the pro micro itself. Unless you buy switches, in which case I can do it all...

Absolutely!

I filled in the form, generally happy with either acrylic or aluminium and not bothered if you do or don't want to include switches. I love the planck but have also been using semi-split/angled boards and so this is perfect. Plus it's not too expensive  - depending on the caps I go with  :D

Also, have you seen this thread. Perhaps an opportunity to collaborate or at least co-ordinate on timing so people can buy parts from you and case from him if that's what they want.

This would be my first real soldering project. So, I have a couple of questions:

When everything is done, can I also use the formidable TMK firmware that the Planck uses. The Planck uses a Teensy, I don't know what the Let's Split will have or if I could add a Teensy onto the PCB.

sadly it is not quite that easy.
https://gist.github.com/nicinabox/3582fc89470a3f4efc9ed194f12fabfb scroll down in this guide. it tells you how to flash the firmware.
Ill probably develop a couple different versions of key layouts to make it easy for people :)

I have also a question, I know how to program a pro micro and stuff. Is it possible to use only one side of the lets split pcb as kind of macro pad? Some changes in the TMK files, like matrix and keymap and it should be done?

Firstly, any word on how much shipping to Europe would end up being if one were to use the UK proxy? Secondly, offering Cherry's new switches might be a smart move if that's at all possible; everyone is super into them, don't think any kits (let alone assembled ones) have offered silent reds/blacks (definitely not blacks at least) and silver speeds, if they have then I must've missed the buys.

Have someone tried making a split atomic yet. Or is that not viable?
