SP has made some doubleshot PBT caps, but no full sets AFAIK. This is the second round of Vortex doubleshot PBT caps and I suspect they went with an easier to make, thin font for the first set so they could test out the process.

I remember reading somewhere here on GH (it's on the internet so it must be true) that they mix ABS with the PBT to make it more manageable, but don't quote me on that. I'd be interested to know the density of these caps. That way we could confirm if they're pure PBT or a blend. Either way, I think they pretty cool, if only the colors were a little more clear. I may still order an orange set, if I can find some here in EU...

So.... again, anyone know of a European vendor for Vortex / KBT / iKBC?

I can do a water test confirmation. I have an ABS double shot coming in soon. So I can set up a comparison with my double shot PBT Vortexes.

In a recent comparison though, I feel like Vortex's PBT double shots have a smoother more ABS feel than traditional PBT such as on a Realforce. Dunno. I mean, it's a different story for the Model M, those are PBT dye sub, but they are smooth textured (at least on mine).

Anyways, will update when I do the water test.

So I did performed a water test on my ABS double shot compared to my Vortex PBT double shot. The Vortex dropped instantly while the ABS dropped slower like it was floating down (almost like how a feather falls through the air). I also dropped a PBT from a Realforce kb and a PBT from a Model M and they both did the same as the Vortex. Confirmed that it's PBT.

No bleed whatsoever. The white is white and the injection is solid.

Are these sets compatible with Cherry G80-3000 keyboards? I mean the last one, with Winkey. I saw that they have the stepped Caps Lock but I don't know about the Space Bar... Thank you!

as an owner of many Cherry keyboards, I can assure you that NOTHING is compatible with that ridiculous off center space bar except... stuff built by Cherry and other commercial companies. Access-IS, WEY, Reuters, etc also have off center space bars.

I know its a few months later, but can someone do a boiling water test with a keycap that he is willing to sacrifice? The reason I ask this is because some of you guys have mentioned the possible addition of non-PBT material. If there is ABS content, it will melt and deform before water boils.

The boiling water test is of course most important to a guy who wants to buy and dye some custom colors and shades...

Are you sure that this Space Bar does not have a double stem coupling?

To be honest I cannot understand why the other manufacturers not copied Cherry for these things... Cherry is Cherry, über alles!!!
