7.5kg is the weight for the aluminum main body, brass bottom, brass plate, and brass rear? Or is 7.5kg the weight if the whole thing is brass (which isn't available as there's no brass main body)

Yes mate, if the whole thing's made with brass, the approx weight is around 22kg

GMT +7 man :D anw making a 22kg case is quite pointless so that's why the main body is aluminum only :D

By the way, since zFrontier cannot organize the GB, our new vendor for China region will be Geekmaker. They will run the GB on Monday, June 22.

I'd like to explain a little bit about the cerakote price and the weight of the board.

Because the thickness of the ceramic coating layer is around 0.1mm and sometime thicker so in order to fit every parts perfectly (even in cerakote version, the mounting bracket and plate are still aluminum), I have to machine a different batch for the cerakote with different specs and the surface finish is also different, the blasting media is different too so the price is quite high for this keyboard.

About the weight. 22kg is the calculated mass for every part to be made in brass, including the main body. But even if the very large bezel and a hole to stick your hand inside, lifting something this small and weight that much is pointless so I won't make it. The full brass configuration only have the Bottom, the Rear bar and the plate to be made in brass, the main body and mounting bracket are still aluminum.

Any anode sample pics by chance? Was hard to pin down what ivory would like like on google images.
Also, does anything go in those 3 holes on the side? They looked empty in the photo.

Looks great! Thanks!

I'm glad this is finally going into GB! I was wondering, is the "rear body" just the red piece in the proto on the IC? Thanks

Well I did not have the Ivory sample but it will look similar to this

On the side, there's a 45 degree bolt that connect the main body with the rear bar and it secure the whole keyboard

Thank you man, and yes, the rear bar is the red piece, here's a picture to clarify

As I said on discord, I will send the remaining invoice out today. We don't have an automated system since we're filling form, not order via website but don't worry, it's on the way.

WOW! I'm not involved in the board but happened to land here and was reading as the board looked interesting. Although its going on a year since money was received and updates ceased. I sincerely hope there's a Discord or Insta or some way the participants are being informed on the status of this board. Good luck to everyone involved including the creator.

There’s no other source of updates to my knowledge. I’d been told an update was coming soon so I kept the money in past the PayPal protection limit, which in hindsight probably wasn’t the smartest move. In a pm I was told there were pictures of actual boards, but given that that might take...a minute? to post an Imgur link and then copy it here I’m doubtful.

There is a discord : https://discord.gg/7bsZbnQ.

The last relevant post on discord:

"Still waiting for the pcb. Good news is they're already at Vietnam customs
I'll try to grab it right after the national congress
If I failed to do that, we'll have to wait after Lunar New Year.
I'm sorry for the delay"

I only skimmed the discord since I didn't join the GB. If you want the full picture I suggest you join and see for yourself  :thumb:

As today marks 268 days since the last official update here on geekhack, I figure I as one of the "buyers" (maximum sarcasm implied here) might as well share the discord updates.

pearvn — 03/25/2021
The pcb is currently at smt assembly stage
Will finish soon

I was told months ago there was a picture of the finished boards, but i don't see that on the discord or here. Clearly what was at Vietnam customs in January wasn't finished PCBs.

Oof, I don't know if any updates will be coming. Looks like they were also involved with the Weaven board (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=107364.0), which was under Triviumtek for that IC. Going to Triviumtek's FB page (https://www.facebook.com/triviumtek/about), their last post was Jan 9, 2020 and clicking their link to their webpage errors out.

This translates to "I’m a broke-*** ***** and can’t be bothered to type to the people I scam."

"I'm really sorry but I can't refund. There's nothing more to update since the whole country is on lock down for almost a year and it still is."

Except…

I know this isn't helpful given the current state of affairs for this specific GB but saving extreme extenuating circumstances (eg. knowing the runner personally), as soon as an update that is provided on Discord isn't posted to Geekhack within reasonable a reasonable timeframe and the window for dispute is still open on Paypal you file for a refund. This has saved plenty of people I know a decent amount of money, and includes other discord related red flags like "The GB will go live in 1h5m from now, join our Discord server for more information" from this same weirdo here in the Weaven IC, "geekhack is down so I'll just move the raffle to discord" like happened with the gskt (which personally saved me money), etc.

All good advice.

In the last few days there’s been some theater on discord about packing the Weavens and possibly the triviums. We’ll see. I’d be shocked if this actually delivered a functional board.

Anyone outside of Vietnam received tracking or a shipping invoice for this? On the Weaven channel, it was posted that all MP Challenge boards had shipped, which is news to me.

Sorta hate to bump this but I figure since Rukia quieted down all of you would appreciate something else
