Title: Ever seen low profile switches by HKNS?
Post by: vim_commando on Sat, 20 May 2017, 17:43:20
Or for that matter, has anyone ever seen mechanical switches by HKNS at all? I haven't.

But I was browsing on Alibaba and ran across these:

I love how the stem looks like it has the dimensions for standard Cherry MX keycaps  :thumb:

The keycap compatibility is something that turns me away from Cherry ML and those new low-pro Kailh switches. There are linear and "soft tactile" versions.

If the MOQ wasn't 6000 I'd get some

Bookmarked. Thank you for sharing it looks very promising. I would like to give them a try, on a PCB mounted keyboard.

Edit: I wonder if the stabilizers should be adjusted, or even switched for a low profile type, as well.

I did not find this switch in the Greetech site. Only the standard size ones are there, but nos this one.

I've never seen these, but they look interesting. I'm curious if anyone has any info on these.

Odd the picture doesn't show the contact pins on the bottom. It does look like the same switch though.

Nice find :thumb:

I've been asking them to not just fix their website but also provide more details, but they're not terribly interested.

The pictures on AliExpress can be seen here:

The page calls them GT02 series (the same as the MX clone switches), but on the left you can see that they're really GT04 series. Supposedly.

Still, besides the lack of consistency for description, coding and all, the lack of information on the position of the connectors makes it looks as something that it is still at beta, not a final commercial product..

Chinese switch manufacturer websites are all terrible. Most stuff in production isn't even listed. Kailh's has the most details but it's still confusing and incomplete.

SO, I managed to get some samples :D

Unfortunately they gave me 4 high profile and only 2 low profile  :-\

[attach=1]

I love the way the low-profile red switch feels. It has a crisp tactile click with a very distinct up-spring.

Unfortunately it is not the home-run I was hoping for. The standard MX caps push out the "wings" next to the stem too much and jams the switch. :(

I do still think there is some good potential.
