AFAIK there are no retail Topre caps in different colors for the non-JIS layout.
Of course Topre can make them, but the prices are a joke. I guess high quality dye sublimation IS expensive.

I still don't get it. There is no signature plastics equivalent for Topre keycaps. You have to order from Topre directly, and they won't do 20 keycaps for a few dollars.

A better use of time would be to start posting at the Japanese keyboard forums in an effort to find the supplier of Topre keycaps.

But then, 90% of the Group Buy posts in this subforum end up this way so who am I to talk.

Anyhoo Signature Plastics gave some lame excuse for why they couldn't do Topre.  Something about $50,000 metal molds IIRC.

I do know nothing about the plastic mold required, but for such amount of money I will buy my sit in the chair board

I've a couple of the ilovex model. Will put up a review soon. Only got a chance to use it recently. haven't had the time and i've been testing other boards.  it's really quite an awesome keyboard. And looks a LOT better in person (in keyboard, whichever). The caps themselves are sub-dyed (Rigs, do not even bother to argue about this with me. So damn sick of your mannerisms, it's not even funny.) but they feel very very different. I do not know how to explain it. It's like they have a rubber coating on it. They feel really good. i'm not sure if this is how RF caps are gonna be from now on til i get my cap sets from Japan. But if this is how the new sets of caps are gonna feel. They are worth every penny. The board itself is variable. No DIP switches and the lights are blue. It is also screw-less from what I can tell. Anyway, here's a pic. More details later on. Cheers.

Having just ordered my HHKB PRO 2 I'd like a set of blanks.

A rainbow of colors would be awesome.

Although if I can't get some magic grab-bag of key colors I have preferences as follows

So, if Topre is the only company that can do this, has anybody asked them how much it would cost to do a run of, say, up to 1000 key caps? I would be down for a set or two if this can be organized.

That is the whole point of this post. We need to knowhow many people are willing to place an order, before talking to Topre or anyone else. Maybe I will create a poll. What do you think guys?

2 things:

A) One of the other posts gave the impression that somebody had already asked Topre what the price would be
B) You don't need confirmed orders before you ask them some key questions like:

• What is the minimum number of key caps to place an order?
• Can the minimum order be met with different colors or does that all need to be a single color?
• What quantity requirements for various price breaks? (i.e. at 100 key caps the price is X, but at 1000 key caps the price is Y)
• Do different color combinations still qualify for the price breaks?
• What colors are available for the keys and letters?
• Do they have samples available?
• Approximately how long does it take to fill an order of an approximate quantity?
• Are there any unique/special/cool options that they offer with their key caps (multi-colored, clear, etc...)

You see where I'm going with this? Open the lines of communication now and find someone to work with at the company...that will probably take some time. You may even just ask them if they manufacture their own keys or if they contract it out. If they contract it out, you can always ask if they would be able to provide you with the contact information of that company.

And while all of that's happening, you can work on putting together the buyers, then use the details of the answers you get to build interest for the group buy.

I think I didn't understand the purpose of this possible Group Buy. I thought that the idea was to import the existing key sets as Ripster is telling.

Easier, Cheaper, 5 color choices, ISO compatible except the final Row, ANSI compatible except the Final row and Enter, Hiragama lettering( Is called like this?)...

BTW what gimpster says is interesting since Click Clack is not doing more Topre keycaps right now.

I think some of the colors for those sets look nice (the orange is pretty sweet) but I probably wouldn't partake in the group buy if it's for the JIL key caps. How do they manage with such a small space bar?

Which is not to say that they don't use the spacebar a lot, of course
