Profit has never been my main objective when running my group buys, so it's all good.
You're not supposed to lose money either... Tell us if you need support.

Seriously.  You're one of the better group buy organizers.  You losing money(plus the time of yourself and maddie and anyone else who contributed) is a disservice to geekhack and it would be embarrassing if we didn't lend you a hand.

Exactly. If I can help by paying the difference in shipping I'm fine with that.

Prices change. You are not some big company that can take the hit because they make a profit on other items.

Thank you all. There sure are a lot of great people in this community.

My plan is to finish US shipping and then look at where I am with finances. If I do decide to ask for some donations/assistance, I will be completely transparent with my costs and the total amount of money that I have.

Today I packaged up the Chinese order and then sorted the rest of the escape packs. Now I am finally done with sorting! I am going to take a break for a bit and then start preparing some US orders to ship.

I believe it is a custom cap from the All the Things sale. You'd have to get it from the owner who I doubt would let it go.

Received my caps today. Put them on a QFR-I with some really shiny grey Cherry-doubleshots. Loving them so far.

Funny thing that I live about 30 miles away from GMK and had to order the caps through an american vendor (was too late for the GB). Now I have to pay tax and customs for stuff that was produced months ago a 30 min drive away  :))

Goods that are sent to the usa don't pay the german vat, which you pay only once, when the goods are reimported in germany, plus a little additional cost, maybe 5%, so this 5% is the only extra cost that you incur in. And the slightly more expensive delivery  :)

Did you order from us? We mark off the origin of the product as German. How much was the customs tax?

Yeah, I ordered from you. Delivery was really swift  :thumb:

Actually, you guys are right, I only had to pay the German VAT (19%) and and additional customs handling fee. No actual customs tax. So 15€ total.

Correct.  And even if the sets were ordered pre-sorted, I do not think that GMK is interested in taking on the duties of shipping to individuals.  But who knows, that may change.

Nice picture!

This reminds me, I used to live in a city in China where iPads were made.  When the iPad Mini came out, my friend (also a foreigner) ordered one and had it shipped to his mother, who was coming over from the U.S. to visit the next week.  He got his shipping notification, and it was shipping direct from the factory right by our apartments!  Literally a 5-10 minute bike ride!  He watched it leave our city, go all the way to the eastern US.  Then his mom got it and brought it back over.  We still laugh about it today.
I'm back.

Working on making the shipping labels now.

Let me give you all some advice on how to make the life of your group buy organizer easier:

1: Write your name on the form. I have to put a name when creating the shipping label.
2: Put a country if you are not from the US. Sorry, but I do not know the location of every city in the world.
3: Please fill out your address in English. Y'all are lucky Maddie can read Chinese or I would have no idea what to do :p.

That is all. Sorry for the mini rant :)). 30 US orders going out tomorrow. I'll post the usernames in a bit.

My name is not there yet, waiting, waiting ...

Honestly dude you're like one of the most patient folks on here.  I hope your set is in the next batch.  Thanks for being an example to us all!

Most of us old folks around GH have learned to be patient already, and the set and Mr. bill and Maddy are all great, so the wait worth it

Yep!

And the regular updates and communication is great!

Plus they are being shipped out in batches, lots of people have received them, and it's only a matter of time until they are all shipped :)

Thanks billnye - keep up the good work :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Oh, and I'm in on the donation thing, too.

This is exactly what one of my sets will be used for  :thumb:

Hey everyone, just wanted to post a quick update.

As some of you may have heard, there was a large snowstorm on the east coast. The snow we got here (about 3 inches) completely shut down everything. People in the south can't handle snow.

I will not be able to get any packages out this weekend because USPS is not delivering mail which means that I can't have packages picked up and all of the roads between my house and the post office are covered in ice, so I would prefer not to drive there to ship.

I expect the roads to clear up by early next week, so shipping will resume then. I hope everyone has a nice weekend :).

I can't believe 3 inches shuts everything down. I have a friend who moved from Chicago to NC and she was baffled that her work was closed because of a few inches.

Same deal here with the subway/trains. Every year it just falls apart when the snow hits, you'd think they'd figure it out after a few years :/

Deutsche Bahn aka German train company, each year when they first 2cm snow fall, they go full retard with 30-90 minute delays.

I can't help, but smile at reading that 3 inches did that, after North Indiana snow storms, 3 inches causing trouble seems hilarious in comparison, but well, again, we appreciate a lot billnye to keep us posted, now and then. Here in MX even a heavy rain can derail everything, LOL.

You should see how most Southern Californians react to getting an inch or two of rain! Most think its no different to dry road and end up in a guard rail because of a little puddle. I can't imagine what it would be like if we were to miraculously get snow one day.

On the other had our courier system doesn't get derailed much by the rain, which is nice.
