I'm in for one of these!
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

The RSII can do that exact layout and it's available for an even lower price than the RSIII

I'm almost certain the RSIII can do something similar too (but it has the extra function row)

The PCB on both the RSII and RSIII are designed to be able to be cut and soldered to the other side for the left hand numpad

Does it work with the same case and plate? My friend decided that he didn't need a second keyboard (his loss) but if I can get the numpad on the left I'll get one for myself as a semi-end game MX keyboard ;D

Silly question as I am not too familair with the Redscarf series. The board is USB wired correct? And the only wireless feature is the remote to control lighting effects? Thanks

My guess is you'd have to modify the case or get the acryllic portion of the case remade.

But there is also the possibility that the numpad has pads to take a USB connector for you to swap the connector over.

I'm not sure though. :-X

You might be able to just flip it if the port is in the center.

Just to clarify, are all the layouts shown in the mockup (with the various bottom rows) compatible with the plate? It looks like it would accommodate quite a few layouts but I can't quite tell from just the picture. Also, is there a picture showing the upper bezel colors, specifically the difference between silver and grey? Thanks for putting this together btw!

Damn son. Amazing value for what you're getting. But I think I have to pass in favor of the aluminum 1800 that's coming up. :(
Please consider carefully before you decide to comment, for Jesus.

maybe we can get enough people to do a second round thru Ivan, or perhaps someone else more versed in taobao.

i was awaiting the Red Scarf II, then get so hyped for the III.

I just figured that out by trying 1, then 2, but I don't know what the difference in the three options are.

1) Are all bottom row layout options supported with the plate?
2) Where is everyone getting their switches & cherry stabs from? Does this plate support plate-mounted stabs or pcb-mounted?

Thanks

Plate seems to be designed to be 'universal' to this board, supporting any layout the PCB does. I'm 99% sure you'll want PCB mount stab in either case, plate doesn't look like it would support plate stabs properly.

All orders that were submitted as of this morning have been invoiced and my totals sent off to the Chinese organizers. Please pay your invoices ASAP to ensure I have all the funds ready to pay.

As far as switch, stab and assembly... I will address that a bit later once the stuff is on it's way. I may or may not offer that. I think it's best for me to wait to make sure I can commit to building X boards up.

Thanks again Ivan, sounds good regarding the assembly and extra parts. :) No harm in waiting to get a clearer picture.

It's just different.
I want it just to have both. I like the RGB LED and acrylic case on this, just a little something different.
I'll be looking to buy a kit, assembled or unassembled, so if you change your mind you can flip it to me in 2-6 weeks, or whenever you receive it.
I'm just broke right now and waiting on my Raindrop R2 to sell.

I don't know anything about the next Lightsaver GB but comparing this to Lightsaver v2 two things come to mind - 1) RS3 supports split backspace (a la HHKB) where LSv2 does not.  2) RS3 has a flat case with feet for elevation while the LSv2's case has a built-in 11 degree incline which is perfect for some and overly steep for others.
