{IC} Ace 6.5 Full house
« on: Fri, 07 January 2022, 15:37:18 »
About the creator/Ace 6.5
The Ace 6.5 is based on card tricks and magic, specifically the Ace’s. I have been doing magic and cardistry for 5-6 years and I wanted to introduce my hobby to this hobby in a unique way. I have always had a love for magic and cards since I was young, and now I want to share that love with the keyboard community and maybe teach some tricks along the way.

Looks good. Think it would be cool for the badge to be removable and could be swapped out with a heart, club or spade badges.

Why are you doing a ic with no prototype. Make prototypes and show off internals if you arent confident enough in the design to want one for yourself why are you trying to sell it to others

disagree with the above, not all interest checks need to have prototypes off the bat. Perfectly fine to check interest first; otherwise if there is none then there's no purpose to prototyping it in the first place.

it's your typical sandwich gasket, you can IC and prototype after you see interest. especially since there's no brand-new-mounting or crazy finishing that even needs evidence. demanding a prototype for a literal gasket sandwich is just being pedantic and elitist.

however you always got to prototype before a GB. not an IC.

Oh hey, a 65% corner blocker.

Also, rather curious how this group buy will go when the guy running it is 14.

would be a nice idea. if ppl can change the cokllour of the weight. for example clubs and spades in alu and hearts and diamonds in brass. if it doesnt increase price too much and ppl are interested enough in it you could implement this idea

Monka. Is OP handling the gb by themselves? That's a tough job for a 14yr old.

thing is, alu is like 1/4th of the density of brass, so it wouldnt really be much of a weight then

my idea was that people can change the colour of the weight to let the clubs and spades have a different colour than heart and peak. not the material option on itself

Runner is 14 with 1 board btw

I can see why you'd be somewhat reserved with this knowledge, and honestly when I first saw him going into this project I also had my hesitancies. However, he's really put in quite a lot of work here in a way I really wasn't expecting, having done a hell of a lot of research and laying out every step 1-by-1. Generally I've got a good feeling about this in how he's conducted himself so far.

In terms of age, while it is a big task, he's got a lot of support around him and will not be running this single-handedly, with intention to bring vendors on board, so once again, as long as he sticks to how he has been pre-IC, everything should come out tickity-boo. As well as this, there are plenty of projects run on this site by 13-16 yr olds - look at the likes of Ram, Shiba etc running keycap sets and organising collaborations, I don't feel there'd be the same discussion if those members of the community ran a similar board.

Was inspiration taken from the FMJ Poker (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=47329.0) for the bottom design?

This is a pretty nice looking board, but with the concerns about the runner's age I would personally like to see the people who are helping with the project named and credited. For me, at least, that would relieve some concerns.

He did so the people that have the Special thanks at the bottom all helped him design and come up with the idea and said yeah go for it. They all gave him feedback and helped him setup his IC and just helped in places where he needed helping.

The only thing i do not know is like who he is working with to produce the boards and stuff like that. So if that's what you mean then idk.

it’s actually not inspired by the pokers bottom, this design just came to me but I can see how they look a bit similar.

Love the design of the board. Not so much on the cardistry and magic side, but I've always enjoyed playing a game or two of cards with my friends. Would love to see renders and an option for either the e-red or burgundy (from the ic). Best of luck.

I think it would be in your best interest in staying with cardistry instead of keyboards.

I would prefer the badges to be made of black or red stainless steel to match the theme, but overall very nice board

It looks very close to Mercury65 with better badge shape although I'd prefer it to be placed below nav cluster (above right arrow).

We have multiple very similar boards starting now... new 65% trend I like.

Runner is 14 with 1 board btw
And all we know about some others is their nick name.
