GORGEOUS color palette for the set & switches! And that 40's kitting is actually pretty good, albeit a bit weirdly-lacking. 🙃
But as far as "quirks" in the 40's kitting goes, what's up with the 1u Enter keys
only coming in R4, or the decision to leave out any way for 40's users from getting an ISO Enter - other than also buying the entire Base Kit...?
And while I understand the difference in mods+bars between 40's + Base, the molds for compatibility support are already there with MW, yet the kit size compared to Base being what it is & only $2-cheaper, PLUS some of the weird compatibility choices, sorta appear like they were added just justify raising the cost (40's kit with number-row & arrow keys, no 3u bars, having an "Accent" Kit that only adds arrows & Base Kit-matched spacebars that leave 40's users with some bars they
should've had already, and doubles-or-triples of others - but then including Accent-colored Enter+Esc keys IN the 40's kitting, etc.).
Just seems a very weird choice, and while I never caught the IC thread that apparently left a considerable impact on this re-vamped (and now-finalized) kitting breakdown, it's still lacking compatibility in ways that surely would've been pointed out if given another IC vote, and completely missing and/or unattainable compatibility in others...
At the very least (and someone please clarify or correct me on any of this, if I'm wrong), the entire menu leaves us 40's-backers to make additional unnecessary kit purchases for illogical reasons, imo, and also kills one of the main benefits of even *having* a standalone 40's Base; getting a smaller—yet niche-focused—Base Kit for our smaller keyboards,
while also saving money & plastic in the process - which is a shame as this set is gorgeous otherwise!
