Orange Alps Options?
« on: Mon, 29 April 2024, 10:37:53 »
Heyo,
Love typing on my m0116, absolutely amazing. Problem is with the layout. I was hoping I would be able to find a orange alps version of the AEK I could use, but those seem pretty rare to come by. I was wondering if there's any other boards that have a decently modern layout (I.E. most things as long as they aren't ISO) that I could convert to use on a modern day windows PC?

If you like the layout and keycap sculpt, etc you should look at handwiring. I did that for my M3501. Otherwise buying a Matias keyboard and removing/resoldering Alps Orange switches would also be viable.

aek m0115 aren't that rare, you could definitely fine one just fine that has orange alps.

if you can't for whatever reason, there are pcbs out there that do support alps (there are hiney tkl alps pcbs for example), so if you are willing to desolder your alps you could put them into keyboards that are compatible with those pcbs.

but the easiest option is to find a m0115.
