Budget Hall Effect Keyboard - XVX G75

I didn't see a review of the XVX G75 Hall Effect keyboard yet, so I'll do a quick one.

For the price, wow! (Currently $40 on Amazon) I just had to try.  I fell in love.  Hot swappable hall effect switches, for this price?  My wife loved it too, so we got one for her as well.  Coming from Cherry browns, going to linear hall effect was just a really nice jump up.

The software needs to be installed, and the wording is quite bad.  Took me a while to translate what they were trying to say.  Definitely not on the level of Wooting's web based software, but I can forgive them for the price.  The lighting option that would dancing to music/sound effects had an issue where it would only work if the software was actively running. I appreciated the triple wiring channels on the back.  I wish more manufacturers would do that.

I lubed the switches and put O-rings on and it's my new favorite keyboard.  I wish it was 80% instead or 75%, but beggars can't be choosers. There are certainly better hall effect keyboards out there with metal cases, but it's nice to get into hall effect at such a low cost.

I put Signature Plastics DSS Dolch on mine, but man... that was a pain!   I had to modify the upper openings of the XVX G75 to allow for the larger DSS Dolch key caps.   I filed and dremeled for hours to get the clearance I needed.  It turned out nice, you can barely see my work in the pictures, but I won't be doing that again.

As someone who grew up with the very first computers,  I really love these retro style keycaps.  An homage to the Commodore 64, Vic20, TRS-80, and Atari 400/800. I even appreciate the rough surface texture.

Overall, the XVX G75 is certainly a success for it's price.
