I have a message from Ripster's other wife (geekhack): What they don't have the internet in Japan?  How hard is it to pick up the laptop and just call?  Do I mean so little to you?

;)
Japan eh? Nice.
Envy.

Dude, if I were on vacation, one of the last things on my mind would be this place.  This place is like a friend with benefits.  It's something nice to have around when you don't anyone... err... anything else to do.

I would never bring a computer on vacation.

Oh, and I'm going away for a week at the end of July too just to let you all know in advance. You guys are gonna have to find a replacement for a little bit.

I almost always bring a computer on vacation.  But it's not for checking in here.  It's to keep the flames of work fires tamped down a bit so it's not so bad when I get back.  I've been advised by many not to do so but they clearly haven't lived the dream that is my life when coming back to a hyper-escalated issue that could have been controlled if I'd know about it.

They don't get that hot. I bet the core i7s give off more heat.

You know what gets REALLY hot? These:

Apple had to release firmware updates to make the fans spin faster as I've said so many times. I can't stop laughing about it. Silly crapple. And there were a lot of appleites boasting how quiet "their macs" were, yeah, that's cause crapple deliberately tries to make the fans run low as possible without optimal cooling.

Just be cheap and get computers that have survived the test of time. That way you'll never have to deal with faulty hardware.
