This set draws inspiration from a pre-pandemic excursion to Taiwan where we were enraptured by arguably its
most widely recognised dessert, the Taiwanese Pineapple Cake (鳳梨酥 fèng lí sū; 王梨酥 ông lâi so).
Fenglisu are delicate little treats with a crumbly pastry exterior that are filled with a sweet pineapple jam.

In the Hokkien dialect, ‘pineapple’ (鳳梨 ông-lâi) is a homophone for the phrase ‘prosperity come’ (旺來 ōng-lâi).
As a symbol of good fortune and prosperity, we wanted to pay homage to this culinary icon in the form of a GMK keycap set.

The GB for GMK fenglisu is now LIVE and will run on all participating vendors from April 8th to May 9th.
Expected delivery will be Q4 2023.

We are aware that pricing is a large contributing factor to
whether or not a given GMK set is purchased and that this set does err on the more
expensive side; however, given the recent struggles with sets reaching MOQs,
we’ve had to adjust accordingly to increase our chances of a successful Group Buy.

Cangjie Sublegend Alphas Kit - 'Back to roots'

A complete alphanumeric alphas kit with Cangjie Chinese sublegends with the inclusion of an additional tab key.
One base kit and alternate alphanumeric alphas kit therefore provides support for those wishing to fill
two keyboards; however, this means that one keyboard will utilise an alternate modifier layout
(i.e. shorter right shift, split backspace, and Tsangan bottom row).

Novelty Kit - 'Is it snack time?’

Note: we have updated our Novelty Kit, please check our updates section below for more details.

A novelty kit with full macrocolumn and Tsangan support.

Spacebars Kit - ‘Do you have anymore?’

COLOURS

The colour palette we have chosen for GMK fenglisu uses two stock GMK colours (GMK CP and BR1).
The browning of fenglisu is represented by GMK BR1 and provides legibility and contrast when paired with GMK CP.
RAL 1017 Saffron Yellow modifiers signify fenglisu's flakey pastry and is complemented by
RAL 2000 Yellow Orange accents that embodies the caramelised pineapple jam centre.

Whilst we have colour matched our renders, variations in colour may differ between monitors.
For ease of comparison, we have therefore included a rendering of other GMK sets.
Note: The colours utilised in this render of GMK Greg have been rearranged and are for demonstration purposes only.
Further note: GMK Ki did not have an accent and have duplicated the modifiers in the render shown.

Cangjie sublegends to Zhuyin sublegends; additively, due to the large number of people that
indicated an affinity towards Cangjie sublegends, we have also decided to also change our
Alt Alphas kit from Cangjie monolegends to Cangjie sublengends.
24th September 2021 - Updated novelty kit. After some discussion, we felt that the
connection between this set and Taiwanese culture could be further extended into the Novelty
Kit. As such, we have now included a new R1 1u novelty, the national flower of Taiwan, the
Plum Blossom. Further to this point, we have also included a new R4 1.25u novelty picturing a
fenglisu that has been bitten into.

my only critique is that unless priced at very high MOQ this kit will probably be $140ish USD. i think you should consider slimming down some, as that price is too steep for some customers

Thought I’d touch on both of these points together - we are toying with the idea of modifying the base kit (i.e. removing numberpad, inclusion of R3 PgUp/R4 PgDn, including bars, etc.). This may help with bringing down the overall cost of the base kit too. We will post an update when ready.

Regarding novelties, we are working on a graphic accented enter key that may replace the mod coloured text novelty. We will have an update for this very soon.

Side Note: Some of the legends in our Base and Alt Alphas Kit had some inconsistencies - we've since rectified those for our eagle-eyed observers.

We did consider this initially, however given the cultural ties, we felt that the inclusion of Cangjie sublegends in the Alt Alpha Kit was appropriate.

That being said, if you, or anyone else for that matter, feel strongly about the inclusion of Latin Alphas specifically, please either let them known in the Google IC form or let me know directly in Discord

This set has a lot going for it. I would once again like to ask you to consider the inclusion of R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn in the base kit for proper 65% support, like myself and a few others have asked for in this thread.

It would be a real shame if this went into GB without those keys, especially since there are less common and less essential keys (such as R2 Esc, 2u Shift) which are included.

A slight modification to the Novelty Kit has been made to include 2x R4 Plum Blossoms. The inclusion of which now caters to full macro column support; at the same time, this also caters towards those wishing to use these Plum Blossoms in a Tsangan layout.

Another update as we inch closer towards the GMK fenglisu GB.

We have desk mat designs! But we're stuck on which stitching combination to use on our 3 desk mat designs, which is why we're asking for your help.

Options include cream, orange, and print-to-edge stitching options (Granted, the finalised desk mat stitch will have to be aligned with what the manufacturer can produce).

I agree, this set is definitely on the more expensive side but given that a lot of recent GMK sets have had troubles hitting MOQ, we felt it was in the set's best interest to lower it. Granted, that means the set is more expensive than I had originally hoped for but we have worked with the vendors to lower it as much as we can so that it is priced more fairly.
