Global Mod deleted my thread - help!
« on: Fri, 26 February 2016, 04:21:51 »
I had a selling thread on which I sold things and posted tracking numbers.

Recently I deleted the now-obsolete (sold out) contents of the Opening Post, and placed a list of items for price check, stating clearly that I was NOT selling at this stage and it was for price check.

A Global Mod deleted the thread.

He told me I had to delete my offending contents (the price check). I said fine, I'm ok with that. But my thread has vanished so I can't alter it. And what about the original contents such as the tracking numbers, which were for the benefit of ghers? He claimed thread was merely unapproved and I could alter it, but thread has vanished.

He has refused to answer my subsequent PMs. (on a plane now so communication delayed)

How do we avoid being suddenly hammered by some over zealous mod? It is not at all funny to suddenly have an active thread deleted. Thus far everyone has been satisfied by my conduct and there are no complaints or disputes against me. (But I am well known to have a dispute against a Global Mod.)

The biggest problem with having a thread deleted, is that lots of info can get fried.

Tracking numbers is personal information and has never been allowed to be shown. Just make a new thread and not try and make a big deal out of it? There is a PC thread anyway.

Your thread has not been deleted, it's still there.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78531.0

It's currently unapproved, so only berserkfan can view it.

In the future, the best way to avoid this is to follow the rules. If you anticipate not following the rules at any time, I suggest saving a link to your thread so you can find it easier when it is unapproved.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

PC thread is practically useless. Only one person has responded with a public estimate of what something is worth, but lots of jokers have sent me low ball offers even though I have stated clearly I can't sell at this point.

I redacted almost everything on the tracking - just enough info for a genuine buyer to figure out it's him. After all, most people in the course of a transaction with me over one week do not share the same state or country.

problem long since solved

it was about someone deleting my thread and then both the mod and the thread disappearing, so I can't do anything that complies with the rules anyway

turns out mod was on a long flight

my disappeared thread really could not be seen, and I didn't have a link to it, so had to wait until mod got off his flight. he could see the thread, so he gave me the link.
