Security Camera from the future?

Why do modern movies still do this, when everyone knows it's --unpossible--

In the future hopefully more will use better security cameras. There are some great quality 1440p res cams available.

The image enhancement thing of that extreme nature is already being experimented with using neural networks, but obviously there's still guesswork involved by filling in detail it can't otherwise refine normally, eg:

In the above the faces are vaguely similar but different enough to be a completely different person, though when you think about things like police sketches it might actually be an improvement :p

So being able to get keys cut from the quality of the enhancement is far-fetched but other things maybe not so much.

It's not that such a camera can't be built..  it would just be ridiculously expensive to store the data it outputs..

And at the most extreme end,  such a camera might require active cooling if it's on 24/7 , because otherwise its processors would wear out..

Active cooling requires manual maintenance..   so more additional cost..

I figure when vehicles become more big brother-ish the point will become moot. They already all have black boxes. Next they'll all have cameras. Soon people will perhaps have cameras on their glasses. Anywhere public is going to be swept by cameras constantly.

I've seen modern movies do the "keep them talking on the phone we're trying to trace the call" gimmick so lazy writing trumps technology every time!
